Printer help

@mollyc Have you ever estimated the cost of printing a page at home? I thought I'd do more but I don't as I'm strictly 12x12 unless it's a rare 4x6 photo or card I'm printing for someone.

Yes, but I don't have an exact amount. It's a complicated estimate because I ended up buying an off-brand ink refill kit to bring down the price of my refills. But I also had to buy an extra set of OEM ink so I'd have a set of extra cartridges. The ink of the refills isn't quite as good as the OEM Canon ink, but since my prints are going in sleeves in a binder and not being hung in a gallery, I am okay with that. They see very little light once they are printed.

In general I think it is about the same or slightly less expensive for me to print at home, mostly because my primary size is 8.5x11 which is an odd size for a pro lab. Persnickety Prints prices their 8.5x11 at $2.49 vs. $1.99 for 12x12, and the 12x12s will go on sale a couple of times a year for $1.49. I also stocked up on paper through a Canon sale and got 1000 sheets of letter sized paper for around $20. At that point the convenience of printing at home far outweighs the two-three cents per print I might save by sending things out.

Thanks for the info Molly. I've done albums in the past that I made 8x10 for the regular albums I got at Target. Mostly I'm a lazy printer so Persnickety works pretty well for me. I appreciate you taking the time to spell it out though.
