Today is Presidents Day in The States. That got me thinking about who was the earliest President that I personally remember from my lifetime. That would be President Jimmy Carter who sadly was admitted into hospice this weekend. Who is the earliest President that you remember? If you live out of the states, what leader do you remember from your country? If you are from Great Britain I bet I know who yours would be!! If that’s the case which world leader do you remember.

Would easily have to be Jacinda Ardern....while not the first New Zealand woman to run the country, probably the one that had to deal with the most during her terms of office before she resigned last month.

First leader of Sweden that I remember is Olof Palme. First US president I remember is Nixon. Watergate.

I remember from Nixon on. I am an oldie! LOL The first election I voted in was Reagan vrs Mondale in 1984.

I barely remember Nixon resigning - I didn’t really understand what was going on but I could tell it was something important.

As an actual leader, Lyndon Johnson but I remember the death of JFK vividly. In government class in high school we had to do notebooks on paper clippings on various areas of government. Each row was assigned a different area. I happened to get the President and the others in my row and I had really thick projects because the president was in the news every single day... beginning of Watergate and Nixon's downfall. So I really remember that one!

I've been nostalgic since hearing about Carter as he was the first president I voted for. I saw him at a campaign stop in Toledo in the parking lot of a mall.

I'm from the "Thatcherite Generation", growing up when Margret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of the UK.

Hmmmm... first ones I remember were

US: Reagan, then Bush.
UK: Thatcher.

First I remember is Regan. But my one of my favorite time periods to read about is the Revolutionary War...and from there my favorite revolutionist and later president is John Adams.

One evening while cuddling on the couch, my hair fell across Obi. He reminded me of someone...:backing

Me too - only the first election I voted in was 1980 Reagan VS Carter.. Ronny defeating Jimmy.

Actually I remember Kennedy...I was 2 when he was was assasinated Nov 22, 1963.

The first I remember
In Europe : Olaf Palme and Anker Jørgensen, Helmuth Schmidt.
In England Margeret Thatcher , Though there must have been quite a few before her in my lifetime, but they don't come to mind.
USA : JF Kennedy ( barely, and only because my parents could not stop talking about his assassination, and my mum really admired Jackey Kennedy, later Mrs Oanasis , so it stuck ) and Henry Ford , him I do remember.

I remember Carter and Reagan. I was 10 at the time and I distinctly recall being included in the adult conversation about the election. When asked who I would vote for, I said Reagan!

The first election I voted in was in 1988. George H.W. Bush was elected that year.

I remember PW. Botha in South Africa.
Jimmy Carter I recall from the USA ad Margaret Thatcher from the UK.

I vaguely remember Dwight "Ike" D. Eisenhower (1953-1961), I definitely remember President Kennedy's assignation and funeral I was 10 and in fifth grade.

I remember Brian Mulrooney. I met him (briefly) when I was a Brownie (Girl Guides) and he came to our town.

Fun fact - we've had so many leaders in the last few years in my province I had to google who the current premier was because I drew a complete blank!

I remember Eisenhower, (showing my age here). Like several of you, I remember the Kennedy assassination very well. We were glued to the TV for days.

The first Canadian Prime Minister I remember is Pierre Elliott Trudeau (whose son Justin is current PM of Canada).

In terms of US Presidents, I dimly recall Watergate and the resignation of Nixon (my parents followed that story obsessively!), don't really recall Ford, and then remember Carter, Reagan, etc quite well.
