Christmas presents.....

Do you buy them? Make them?

When do you start your present buying/making?

Any traditions around presents in your family?

I buy them for the most part, some are actual gifts and others are gift certificates or I do a combination.

When do you start your present buying/making?
I used to wait until after I'd finished studying in November but now because it's mostly gift cards I wait to buy (though I save up ahead of time)

Not in terms of present buying but on Christmas Day our family tradition is youngest hands out the presents - if my cousin is there (she's sometimes with her mum and brother instead) it's her otherwise I get the job

both-- mostly buy but I have made at least one present most years. I used to make pajamas for my kids to open Christmas Eve, I made doll clothes for my girls when they were young and last Christmas I made quilts for my brother/sis-in-law and my nephew.

When do you start your present buying/making? I used to start making stuff super early- like mid-summer or so. As my kids have grown up now, we usually make Wish Lists in Google Docs and send links to items we would like in mid-November. I start shopping once I have those lists from everyone.

Any traditions around presents in your family? When I was little my dad got me these special Anri Ferrandiz ornaments each year, they are from Italy and I still look for vintage ones each year!

Christmas presents.....

Do you buy them? Make them? I generally buy them.

When do you start your present buying/making? We have birthdays at the end of October, so nothing happens before then.

Any traditions around presents in your family? Not really. As the kids are older now I generally ask them to give me a list.

I buy most of the Christmas presents that I give, but I do also make a few things here and there. I used to try to make a bunch more, but that made it overwhelming and not so fun, so I definitely try to limit the number of "made" gifts to what I know I can easily accomplish.

The number of people I give gifts to is pretty small too which is nice. We do our kids and hubby and I give gifts to each other. We also give gifts to our 3 nephews and our parents. That's pretty much it these days. We used to exchange gifts between our siblings too, but none of us really need much of anything and it was getting too hard to come up with ideas, plus once the kids came along we all decided it was way more fun to give them stuff instead. :agree

The only tradition in gift giving in our family is that my MIL still stuffs a stocking for each of us and it's always full of super fun items. She also wraps each individual small item, so it takes longer to open everything in there. I love opening my stocking from her.

Nowadays I mostly buy them. In the past I've made counted-stitch ornaments, sewed dolls clothes. One year I found a pattern to make doll furniture using PVC piping and fabric. My then DH cut and glued the frames, while I sewed the fabric portion. This year I am making the grandkids (ages 4 to 28) filled mesh stockings ... lots of fun "junk" from Oriental Trading, PEZ snowmen dispensers, candy, etc. to give along with a bit of cash.

When do you start your present buying/making? When my kids were young I started in September, once my granddaughter was born (November), I pushed back buying gifts until after her b'day. This year I ordered the stocking stuffers in October. Hopefully I won't be filling those stocking on Christmas Eve, LOL!!!

Any traditions around presents in your family? In our home we take turns opening gifts, usually starting with the youngest, later at my sister's we do a countdown from ten and then the grandkids just start ripping their gifts open. It's a flurry of ribbons, wrapping paper and oooos and ahhhhhs!

I mostly buy - usually starting in November and we try to finish up early since we have to ship a lot. The only thing I "make" every year is a (Shutterfly) photobook that goes to the grandparents with pictures from the past year. I am a little weary of making it after about 20 years but they say it's their favorite gift every year so I keep going (plus it's nice for us to have too)!

I mainly buy, but I will give ancillary items such has homemade vanilla, or this year I am thinking of making Limoncello to give along side other gifts...
My daughter's birthday is next week so usually the bulk of buying happens after that... but I do have one gift, for my aunt, purchased so far...
My family's big traditions are opening presents on Christmas Eve and one present should always be pjs... then we have a relatively relaxing Christmas Day...

We dont exchange gifts.. but the little ones we give gift cards to.

Christmas presents.....

1) Do you buy them? Make them?
Buy and make usually. My kids are teens so that's always a buy situation. I typically make paper crafts and such for my mom, sister which we don't always exchange gifts unless it's something we want to do on our own.

2) When do you start your present buying/making?
Usually pretty early- octoberish if I know something specific

3) Any traditions around presents in your family?
We do PJs and a book on Christmas eve every year.

I mostly buy. Sometimes I will make things if time allows!
I have bought a few little things over the last couple of months, but I probably do the bulk of my shopping later this month. I have 2 granddaughters with birthdays in December before Christmas.
Our only real tradition is opening one gift on Christmas Eve.

Do you buy them? Make them?
I buy Christmas presents, I am not crafty enough to make them.

When do you start your present buying/making?
I am normally all finished and presents wrapped before December 1st. But as the kids have got older (both 20 now) its got harder to buy for them so normally end up buying stuff last minute. I literally ordered my sons main present this morning, his birthday is 11th December so always struggle to find gifts he wants.

We always have a Christmas Eve box to open for my son (step daughter doesn't live with us) the box contains new pyjamas, some hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Christmas presents.....

Do you buy them? Make them? Buy them. I “make” calendars with my scrap pages through Shutterfly.

When do you start your present buying/making? November because I forget in October.

Any traditions around presents in your family? The only present we get every year is Christmas Eve pajamas. Also, our presents from Santa are unwrapped which is how it was when I was little.
