We had an awesome chat this morning and I'm sorry for those who couldn't make it. Here are a few of the tips shared that we can all do before these big events like iDSD/iNSD and are great to keep in mind all the time!
1. Connect with designers/stores. Sign up for FB/IG/newsletters, etc... now. Many of them have specials/freebies/challenges that you will want to catch.
2. Check your stash to see if you have any "low" points. Do you need more templates? Wordart? Dates for PL/DYD, etc?
3. Spruce up your Wish List. Remove items you already have or don't really want anymore and add things that you really would love to purchase. That way, you can "shop" your Wish List when the sale rolls around.
4. Take a few minutes to go through some photos and pull out some that you want to scrap. Copy them into a separate folder or tag them in LR, etc... You'll be more likely to remember them when you see a product that would fit perfectly. It's always great buying a product you KNOW you will use because you already have a photo or story to go with it.
5. Make some room on your Hard Drive. This makes room for new/fresh stuff, of course, but will also speed up your computer for scrapping. So, clean out your DL folder *cough*, delete some stuff you will never use, move stuff to your EHD and free up some space.
6. Organize what you have left. At least by store or designer. That way you can see what you have more easily. This is great especially for challenges and special scrapping. I am an organization nazi and would be happy to share with you how I do it if interested.
7. Make a schedule of events you don't want to miss. Focus on what you really want to do b/c you cannot do it all. TLP will have several chats and they are only 30 mins each b/c of the time crunch. And there is a chat prize at each one (just sayin'
). If you want to come to these, put them on your agenda/list/calendar. Also, write down any challenges you want to complete. It will be fun to check them off.
8. *This one came from someone at the chat and I just had to add it b/c it's so good* Plan easy meals ahead of time and plan activities for the kids that do not require a lot of your involvement for that weekend.
9. Downloading. There are 2 schools of thought on this one. #1 Wait to DL until after the weekend due to the busyness of the store's server. If you do this, MAKE YOURSELF A NOTE to do it early the next week. #2 DL right away and go ahead and organize on your hard drive to prevent your DL folder from being a big fat mess (like mine is a lot of the time).
So there! That's a few things we discussed and the conversation was great! Please add any other tips you think of in this thread. We'd love to hear!
Have a great and don't forget if you were at the chat and haven't heard from me via PM, please contact little 'ole me. Thanks!
