Possible Computer Woes

I was just starting to work on my MOC Day 2 page when all went blank! This is the second blue screen crash dump in the last month or so.
Two years ago I was told my mother board had got overheated when the graphics card got cooked ( too much dust). I have been using the basic graphics card and all has been going okay - sometimes it goes slow with some things. Now it looks like the time is nearly up! My motherboard may die any day now.
If this happens I have a back up plan to use my laptop until I get a new desktop. That will slow me down as it is not a great laptop.

Oh no! Computer problems are such a pain!! And it couldn't have come at a more inconvenient time...just in time for MOC! I hope you are able to be productive on your laptop.

Hopefully it's able to limp along through the end of the month. Computer problems are so frustrating!

Oh no! Good luck! Mine started running really slow today - best time, right? I just emptied my trash, got rid of what I could and unpinned everything that I could from the task bar. I restarted it and it seems better. I feel your pain, Anne-Marie. Mine was driving me crazy it was SO slow!

Well.... I got through number 2 MOC challenge with no more crashes.
I think if it crashes again I will take my husband up on the offer to buy me a new desktop computer before this one finally crashes so it would be easier to transfer some of my data to a new computer. I try and back up things I really want to keep on EHDs.

Glad you were able to muddle through. I agree that transferring stuff to a new computer before the old one dies is always much easier!

I try and back up things I really want to keep on EHDs.

Don't forget preferences in photoshop or your scrapping program! Actions, styles, etc. It makes it much easier to start on a new computer.

Fonts as well and any important saved passwords/pin/product keys etc

I feel your pain! My computer has dual hard drives, and the one that I had programs installed on was tiny and almost full. After a few months of everything running at a crawl, I finally bought and installed a new hard drive a few days ago. Getting it running faster for MOC is part of what made me do it now! It's put me a couple of days behind, but I should be able to catch up this weekend. I hope you're able to get the new computer and easily transfer everything over. Enjoy!

Ditto! I actually still haven't cleared out the old drive because I'm afraid if I format it, I'll need something that's still on it. I need to just do it though.

What terrible timing! Let's hope it behaves for you at least through this month. But, it sounds like your husband is offering you a new computer before this one completely crashes, so that's fun! And good plan to get stuff backed up now before you have a catastrophic failure!
