positive thoughts please for my daughter's cat.

A neighbor just came to our door, another neighbor had a black and white cat in their back yard. It didn't want to move, it is my daughter's cat Oliver. He's the coolest dude. Everyone who visits wants to take him home. He's got puncture wounds in one hind leg and scratch down the same foot. He doesn't want to move. I thought he was paralyzed when my husband brought him back home. I set him on the ground and he just layed. When I got to the shower to wash his leg he started flailing so he can move. I washed it with antibacterial soap and peroxide. I put antibiotic ointment and gauze pads on his wounds. Shaved the hair around the boo-boo. I'm actually out of peroxide, soap, AND gauze so I'll make a trip to the drug store in the morning. I won't be able to take him to the vet until Friday when the husband gets his paycheck. I'm PRAYING this cat survives. My daughter LOVES this guy and I do too... hell everyone who meets him does.

We can't figure out if it was a dog, caught in a fence, or if he got skidded by a car. He likes to sleep under all the neighbors cars :/ Nothing seems broken (maybe a hip if anything). He's got a little bed going on in a clothes hamper lid with sheets and a fleece blanket. He looks like he'd been out there all day bleeding and poor guy was cold (i live in florida - hot as can be all day).

So I'm doing my best to be dr. mom / vet? There are NO vets around here who work on the honor system or take down payments - all is due at the time of service. I'm hoping he's just REALLY tired and hurting... and a few days of babying and cleaning the leg and stuff will help him. If he's not walking by Friday (willingly - cause I know he can move it all he tried to scram when I got down the shower head - but I kept him still) I'll be taking him to the vet.

Oh goodness! That's awful! Sending lots of p&pt to your daughter's kitty. Will he take fluids? Maybe even use a syringe or medicine dropper to help him get re-hydrated.

I thought about that. I should definitely try. I don't have any droppers or syringes... but I'll try something. Thanks :)

Aww that's awful haven't. You a PDAs there that can help or a sympathetic vet that may wait to be paid till Friday if you explain worth a try to get the poor thing the help he needs,I hope he gets better and is ok

Yeah i've tried to the with a number of vets a few years ago when my mini dachshund was pregnant ready to pop no one wanted to see her unless i paid :/ - what is a pda??

i got some water in Oliver. He doesn't want to move that leg at all. I hope its just sore and not permanently affected, like a broken hip or something. Or fractured spine or something. He is able to moves his hind legs but doesn't... I mean if it was a dog or a car he's REALLY lucky because it's just two puncture wounds and a scratch... maybe his muscles or tendons are really sore... GAAHHHH i hope i don't have to take him to the vet. I hope this little bug pulls through.

Ohhh dear! I so hope he improves some overnight and will respond to all your TLC and some re-hydration. Sending lots of warm thoughts and prayers for him!

Sorry I meant pdsa it's a charity that helps you out with your animals,I can't believe that there willing to let them suffer than help out, hope he is ok

Here's a link to our pdsa I've never used them myself but seen documentaries on the tv http://www.pdsa.org.uk/

I'm pretty sure our city has an animal hospital that apparently take payment after the event - it's an animal shelter. I've been told they are a lot cheaper than the local vets but have never used them. Not sure if there's something like that available in your town (I'm in Australia). I hate seeing our fur-babies in any pain so hope your DD's cat pulls through :(

I just wanted to suggest trying again. You may have a vet view this situation a bit differently. Just tell them your cat was attacked, could they see him and take a post dated check because you get paid Friday.

I spent several years working at a cat only clinic and we saw these types of injuries often. There's a big risk for infection and we would typically have to put in a drainage tube. They can heal well usually depending on the significance of the injury.

Maybe call around some neighboring towns too if you can't find a local vet to help. You can usually find someone who'll help, as vets are there for the animals not for themselves... well, usually. Good luck! Keep us posted on how he is.

Oh, poor thing. Hope he's doing ok. I would definitely think there should be some option available. Maybe something through the Humane Society?

Oh geez! That poor kitty! I hope he feels better in the morning too! Hugs!

Hope he's beginning to heal, or that you've been able to get him in to see someone.

Thinking of you and your kitty. I hope everything is OK! :( Please keep us posted.
