Pinterest is a bit ditsy

I don't think that pinterest likes me much today LOL. I am trying to clean up my boards, move things around, rename some things....and it keeps giving me error messages, telling me that I already have a board similar, or it won't complete a command, or gets sluggish and the little turning clock thing just keeps spinning.

I think pinterest is a bit ditsy and can't be overwhelmed with changes LOL. I want to clean up some of my food boards. I have too many that are similar or some that I don't care about anymore and I want to streamline it a bit so I can actually find something when I want it. It'll take me forever to do this but at least a few minutes a day will get me going in the right direction (if pinterest would just cooperate with me).

What about you? Do you keep your boards pretty well organized? Or like me and things are scattered all over the place?

I was just thinking the same thing!! I'm trying to get caught up on my CT Boards...and it's not showing any of my boards to pin too...I do think that it gets overwhelmed at times :giggle
I definitely am all over the place...when I started out, I didn't think that it would become such a huge part of my life...now I need to go back and start really organizing my food and craft boards

I had an issue similar to @bcnatty the other day... I couldn't see any of my boards! Panicked me as I wasn't able to see the pin I had planned to make that night for dinner. I'm thinking that a recipe card project might be in order for next year so I don't lose my pinned recipes I like to make. I'm already had a couple sites disappear and take a favorite recipe or two with.

My boards aren't very organized. I tried for a while, but now I just wade through all of my random pins to find what I need.

Recipes are my biggest pins and its just so much more convenient than searching thru a cookbook but only if the boards are organized. I get distracted too and find myself following a link...then another link.....and so on LOL. At this rate, it's going to take the rest of my life to get this done.

Yep it's a rabbit hole but i love it when it works! my food board isn't organised eithr but i have a party food board too and thans to the visual bookmarks style i can scroll and find what i need quick enough usually.

My problem is that I start a lot of boards for specific things and then abandon them. Like Clara and I were going to go to California again this year for her spring break, so I started a spring break board. But now she's going to Guatemala with school instead, so that board has been abandoned. I don't sew, but have a sewing related board for projects I would make if I did. I have food pinned on a specific board for a party we didn't end up fixing food for (ended up ordering catering). Pinterest me is a whole lot more crafty and interesting than real life me. :giggle

I seriously need to organize my boards. I usually start doing it and then *squirrel* I'm doing something else LOL

My problem with pinterest tends to be that it loses my pins all the time. I will pin something, and when I go back to find it again, it's gone. If it were just a handful of times, I would have been inclined to believe it was just me... but it has happened COUNTLESS times, and I am sure it's just something glitchy with the site. Still love it, though.

I have two Pinterest accounts. One personal one and one work one. My school (work) one is actually quite populair so I don't want to get rid of all my boards and pins BUT I now work in a very different area so I want to make some room for that. I haven't found the right way to do so though.. (I used to work in spec.ed. so I have lots of kiddy and creative pins and boards but now I work at a college so quite a different audience..)

My Pinterest is a mess! Lol! I go in spurts using it, but if you follow me, you can always tell when I'm feeling creative or I've picked up a new hobby! :giggle

I like Pinterest, but it can be spotty. I went to make a recipe one time & realized at the last minute that it didn't make sense. It called for one cup of mashed potatoes and a pound of bacon. I don't see how that could possibly be right unless it's potato topped bacon.

Love the recipe card project idea... although, I'd never finish it. I'm the queen of good intentions and unfinished projects. I've lost recipe pins before as sites come and go. I've been known to copy the recipe to the description and/or comments of my pin so if the site goes, I still have the recipe.

I should go organize, but I don't. It's semi-organized and as long as I can find what I need, I'm ok with that right now. Someday I'll get organized but I don't use pinterest enough to organize more than I already do. I mostly pin my layouts and move on. I do wish I could alphabetize my boards, but I'm too lazy to google it and do it right now, that's something for another day I guess. *wink*

My recipe method is that I have a couple general, "ooh, that looks interesting" recipe boards, and then I have "Family Favourites" boards. If a recipe gets the thumbs up from all four family members on two occasions, it goes onto the Family Favourites board. Mondays and Wednesdays I try new things. Tuesdays and Thursdays are either simple "Family Favourites" or soup & grilled cheese nights. Friday is Shabbat. I make a desert and I usually go with something familiar, but a little fancier than normal. (Saturdays and Sundays are about leftovers, or "fend for yourselves, kids!", unless we have guests.) I get my recipes from pinterest a lot, but I still use the "Family Favourites" system for recipes in cookbooks and magazines. I have a subscription to Texture. It's like Netflix for magazines, and you can pin from within the app.

I have also been editing some of my other boards. Especially the kid-related ones. Some of my original pins were for 3 & 5 year olds, and I now have 9 & 11 year olds!

I need to clean up my boards. I think about it. Then get annoyed by the sponsored posts or I get sidetracked looking at the pretty pins and it never gets done!

For recipes, I save it to my online recipe keeper if it looks like something I will actually make as opposed to something I just want to pin because it might be delicious but it's not good for me at all. That way it doesn't disappear. Although, I've had luck searching for the recipes that have disappeared sometimes with Google wayback, but more often just another blogger or whoever made the recipe and posts it.

I'm super curious about the 1 cup mashed potatoes, 1 lb of bacon recipe @jesskab

But still! Oh my gosh!! I love this review:
This recipe has all the ingredients of a rich and creamy, flavorful twice-baked potato dish. Unfortunately, the measurements are way off. It calls for 1/2 lb bacon and 3/4 c. cheese for 2 potatoes...then to top with another 3/4 c. cheese... Would you like some potato to go with that cheese and bacon? And those must be some massive potatoes, to fill a 9x13 pan...I couldn't find those, my supermarket only sells potato-sized potatoes

I also need to delete many pins that I'll never use. I've too many of them! It's a black hole for me, but a fun black hole!

But I'm perpetually mad at the Pinterest admin. It all revolves around their advertising/"picked for you" pins. It makes me furious when my feed is 75% pins I don't want to see and there's nothing you can do about it other than block the pins/advertisers.
