Not totally my choice but as Adobe stated my CS4 serial number was invalid after 5 years, I jumped into the photography plan for CC. Does anyone have any easy tutorials or tips for both Photoshop & Lightroom?

I know exactly how you feel. I just switched to PS CC as well and I'm really missing the arrange documents icon. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

In CC, you can drag directly from Finder/Explorer onto your LO, so having multiple documents open might not be needed as much. However, you can edit keyboard shortcuts (Edit / Keyboard Shortcuts) and assign keystrokes to the views you use the most. Look under Window / Arrange for various view options.

So I only get 5 years with my CS6?! Nooooooooooooooo I don't wanna switch to CC subscription.....:cry

I love the CC + LR ... it really isn't as different from the other versions... it is quick to get accustomed to. CC for $10/month is worth it to me as always having an up to date .. I went from CS3 to CC... re the serial # only good for 5 years on CS3/CS4/CS6?? never heard of that... maybe updates, but if you own it (CS4/CS6) it should still be valid. I have CS3 on my PC and it still works. I use it for illustrator etc as I had the complete pkg for CS3 and it still works for me.

I never used full Photoshop until I got CC in May (I used PSE for scrapping before that). I like to just click around until I find what I'm looking for, and google when I'm stuck. I've found a lot of things the same between PSE and full Photoshop.

I've also been using Lightroom for several years now, so if you have questions about that I can help. It's a fabulous program for both organizing and editing images.

No, it was an issue with my serial number and how I bought it so you should be fine.

whew....LOL.
I know $10/month is worth it, but it's not doable for us in a one income family right now. Maybe when I go back to work.

Makes absolute sense Kiana... I had CS3 so I was way behind the eight ball and it was more cost effective for me to do the CC $10 per month as I did not want to shell out $900 for CS6 2 years ago. If CS6 is working, I would not do the CC :)

Yes I love CS6. I was able to get it fairly cheap with student discount.

Wow! How cool is that?! Dragging items to PS is going to be a lot easier than opening every single file. Thanks @lorryfach! What a great tip!

When you drag in, they keep their file names, and they become Smart Objects (which means if size down, change your mind, and size back up, it hasn't lost resolution) so it's super handy! :)

So that's what smart objects do! That's a new to me feature in pse14 {the dragging and smart objects}.

Basically they preserve all the original qualities of everything. Which is why you can't just, for example, erase part of it or do an adjustment on it. You mask it, and apply an adjustment layer on it. It takes getting used to if you've been doing destructive editing, but it's a dream come true if you are like me and change your mind a lot. :giggle

I use place for everything so my elements papers and photos are like duplicates of originals.. I add masks and clip masks with gray fill overlays for burns and dodge on the smart objects not to destruct... place places them as smart objects and then the names of the files are on the layers so that my supply script works :):agree:bird

I think we need @lorryfach and @cfile and some others who are experts to create a series of tutorials that combine all these tips, in the learning forum. I've had CC for almost a year but can't quite get used to it. I load my PSE files into CC when I want to use a tool PSE doesn't support, but I've never done a layout end to end in CC.
Also I tried using the tool to import my brushes and styles into CC but didn't work. Installing them all one at a time is awful.
