Pad Patter 9/13: let's talk cupcakes.

Definitely a cupcake fan. I don't indulge too often because buttercream just makes me crave more buttercream. :)

The cupcakery fad has passed & gone around these parts. There are still some places, but not nearly as many. Mostly on food trucks. I love cupcakes. I always volunteer for the team parties & stuff. I'm always trying to invent new things (York peppermint patties cupcakes, Jelly filled with peanut butter icing, s'mores...)

Have cupcakes ever not been awesome? LOL! I live right outside NYC and there are so many cupcake shops all over this area - we've had a few close and a few new ones pop up. I love to bake cupcakes, too. I bring them to my friends' birthday parties at the local pub or to work. I do love my own pumpkin spice cupcakes. They might not look as pretty as the ones from the shop, but they are amazing!

My favorite ones I have done were requests by my neighbors.
1. Chocolate stout cupcake with a baileys ganache inside and a baileys vanilla buttercream frosting.
2. Chocolate stout bacon cupcake with chocolate buttercream and a piece of maple candied bacon on top.

Ooh I love cupcakes and I especially love looking at them that people have created,so clever sometimes there to nice ya wouldn't want to eat them lol,has to be proper home made tho not out of a box

We don't really have the shops around us, but that is okay because I'm pretty picky about them. But my go-to favorite is Betty Crocker's chocolate fudge mix if I'm not baking from scratch. I never buy pre-made frosting though. It always tastes like plastic to me. I like making cupcakes because I'm too lazy to perfectly frost a cake. I took a cake decorating class at Michael's about ten years ago, and it kind of burned me out. LOL. Now I'm all about the quick and easy. I made these for my hubs' birthday a couple of weeks ago. They are definitely not perfect, but the thought was there. And in the background is a little hybrid poster/sign I made using Allison Pennington's crabby journal cards. :)
