So, I know that technically July is mid-year and since I'm a month late even thinking of this, you can probably figure out where I fall in this :giggle

Do you make mid year goals? Do you revisit any beginning of the year goals to see how you are doing?

I am not much of a long term goal setter (b/c I get discouraged by the fact that time always slips by faster than I think it will and I don't get things done). That said, I had a specific goal at the beginning of 2015. Namely, to get my blog/website up and running and active. And starting another online adventure. EPIC FAIL on both goals.

Of course, I also had the normal goals of exercise and weight loss. Again with the FAIL. Sigh. (side note: this post is depressing me)

In my defense, I have gotten a lot accomplished this year, just not the things I had on my little list.

ANYWAY... MOVING ON... I am treating myself to revisit some goals. And decided a specific plan is the best way to handle them. Mid year (sort of). New perspective.

I figure the 18 month calendars/planners release this time of year for a reason, right?

So, how are your "New Years Resolutions" going? Need to adjust? Chipping away at them? Happy with your progress? Forgot all about them? Never even made them?

Let's hear about it...

Jen, you always make me laugh. I'm not much of a long term goal planner either, but that being said, every year I vow to get healthier, which obviously includes exercise and weight loss. I've been doing pretty good on the exercise lately, the dog and I walk an hour every morning before Mom and Dad leave for work, but my Dr. isn't at all happy with my weight and neither am I. I've never thought much about the middle of the year being a second chance so to speak, so here's to giving myself a second chance!

Your new avatar is gorgeous! I apologize if I missed this earlier, we're on vacation right now, but better late than never, right! You really look awesome!

I'm not a great planner for long term at all. I think it's because I set myself up for disaster... or failure. I already have enough issues, that I don't need to really muck around with my confidence, too.

I do make a New Years Resolution. Usually mine are a life "fixing" thing - this years was to drink 10 glasses of water a day. I was really slacking on this. I've kept this up, and it's now a daily routine. My goal for the year has to be small, attainable, and something that will impact me and serve me well by adding/removing/changing my ways.

If I look at the way big picture, we made it through 1st and 4th grade. lol! Now, my next goal is to get through 2nd and 5th. School is a challenge for us. Last year, after testing and such, my oldest has an IEP in place, and it was our best year yet. I'm hoping this upcoming school year will be just as good.

I agree with Nancy... (I posted in another thread, lol, but you might not go back to that thread)... I love the new Avi. It's a wonderful photo!

I was just joking with my walking partner about this the other day... I'm much more a handle life one day at a time kinda girl. :)

I was also thinking about this the other day. But in a little bit of a discouraged way, but amazingly not in a beating myself up way. It's been a weird year. This had been the first year I had clear goals and then I got sick and well things went out the window. But I see little bits of progress here and there. What I've seen is a lot of growth in myself as well. So I'm looking at re-evaluating in August and just see where it gets me. I read somewhere September is the new January. Maybe school year goals?
And I'm joining in on the I LOVE your avatar!

Thanks, guys for the Avi love... I mentioned it in the ATC thread but I felt like I was channeling my inner middle school girl with it :giggle

Feels a bit too much, but I appreciate the kindness :)

Re: my mid year planning... I'm getting down to business tomorrow with it. It's my "goal" for the week. hehe... I have a goal to set goals. :hummm Is that messed up?

So, this is me... with me... :whip

Better not be messed up because it's my goal for August (due to life I'm making my time frame bigger). However I am planning one day this week to work on one goal of eating better -- so a little menu planning, grocery list.
Part of my thought process is from MPM -- Almanac. An almanac is often all the different information for the coming year so why not goals and plans?

hmmmm.....what are these things you call 'goals'?

does that tell you where I fall? LOL
Seriously, I did have some goals for summer (which {sob} is coming quickly to an end). I wanted to read a TON, get caught up on PL, do a bit of school prep, and start some sort of exercise plan.

read a TON--check
get caught up on PL-- kind of, I have my photos edited and in a folder to print as soon as there is another 4x6 sale somewhere
do a bit of school prep-- never happened
exercise--did great until it became miserably hot, I do plan on getting back to this though

I also want to make some goals for the coming school year to help me stay on track and not just survival mode.

^^ What Becky said^^ What are these things called goals? I will admit that although I do not specifically set goals, I do have "ideals" of things that should be accomplished and once I miss that mark ... I whine about it, hahahaha! I set myself up!

I stopped worrying with much when I retired and now it's hard for to plan out a grocery list much life my life. pfft :crazy

I'm not a good goal person either, although the big goals (like education) were always on my mind. My one goal for 2015 was to finish my degree. I'd quit part way through last year, and only had my thesis left. I re-enrolled in January, and I did it. As of 7/31... I am officially done!!!!! I have my Masters in Education to complement my Master of Fine Arts. So I guess I'm trying to make myself feel better about all of the other things I've slacked on all year (*cough cough* project life). :giggle

Now if I can only put the focus and energy it took to get through two Masters programs into other goal-type things, I could be fierce. LOL.

Goals for the remainder of the year: meet my reading goal, participate in novel-in-a-day, complete NaNoWriMo, and find a new doctor (ugh).

Congratulations Kimberlee! That's a huge accomplishment. The rest will get there as your passion switches. Give yourself a little time to breathe and discover what you want to do next. Good luck on the doctor thing -- I hate changing doctors. I'm getting to the age where my doctors seem to be retiring though. Glad my GP is a young guy (well not so young but you know).
PARTY! about that degree. I'm done Aug 21 but graduation is in VA and not til May so I'm trying to figure out how to celebrate.

That is such a hard thing! We changed to a "younger" Dr than our old one. This one is at least my age. Is Family Practice dying out? pfft

I would say that makes you pretty fierce! hahaha! Congrats!

CONGRATS, GIRL :cheer

Those sound like some pretty lofty goals to me!

I am not so much a "goals" girl, but more a fly by the seat of my pants girl :) When I do set goals, they tend to be more for next weekend or 2 days from now. I had the usual get in shape kind of goal at the beginning of the year, but I have yet to even start on that one, other than buying a Fitbit and wearing it around haha. At least I appear active, right? I have gotten some things done here and there that have been goals for years, but for the most part, I'm lucky if I reach all the goals I set for today!

I tend toward daily or weekly goals rather than long reaching goals. I suppose because I can see an end point, and can count **some** success then?

For instance, I have a weekly goal to keep the laundry in check. That's at least one load a day, presuming I'm not behind from some other scheduling interference (or sheer laziness on my part, let's be honest).

I have a weekly goal of clearing out my DropBox of photos that have come from my phone, and making sure photos from my camera are moved to the computer as well. I update a spreadsheet I keep for events, and I tag/keyword in Lightroom as well.

I have a daily goal of making my bed. I know. Ha Ha. But seriously. I am struggling with some back pain right now, and making up the bed is a chore that for some reason makes my back hurt like crazy even though it takes less than 3 minutes to do it. So I tend to put it off.

I have a daily goal of reading. I used to have a goal of reading one book per week. Now, I just make sure I read every single day. Feeling stressed? Time to stop and read for a bit.

I have a daily goal of scrapping. This is the one that tends to get ignored. Mostly because I'm a template designer, so even if I'm not designing a layout, it's likely that I'm creating one (or several) templates. And that's kind of like scrapping, but not really, since there aren't any photos on those pages and no stories were recorded. But I think that's how I let that goal slide by.

I could go on and on . . . but I have loads of little daily goals that I try to make sure I meet. In doing that, I'm assured of doing **something** instead of being stymied by long term goals I fear I'll never meet.

My big goal at the moment is to finish my undergrad degree - I'm doing the last two papers now

Apart from that its all about putting the wheels in motion to apply for a Masters degree next year. Can't apply for the program til November as they need the results of the courses I'm doing now but need to apply for student housing and organize referees by the end of September. If it all works out I'll be moving an hour and a quarter south of where I live now next Feb/March for at least 8 months.

That is so exciting!!! What type of Masters are you going to do?

And thanks, ladies. I was pretty excited/relieved to get it done. Now I might be able to tackle some of the online art classes I've been hoarding for the past few years.
