Pad Patter: 7/26 - Board Games

We don't play nearly as often as we used to, but I would love to start a family board game night at some point.

With friends, we love Settlers of Catan (my favorite expansion is Cities and Knights, but Micah is a fan of the Seafarers expansion). We did just introduce the boys (7yrs old) to Monopoly and that was loads of fun.

We LOVE board games!:) DH and I get super competitive too. Out fav is this Indian strategy game called 'stock exchange' . Close second is RA. Others we love are risk, sequence and good ol Monopoly ...yep... We do Love board games :D

Usually when my boys are bored and wandering around complaining about not having anything to do, we'll pull out the stash of board games. I love parcheezi and Chinese checkers or Sorry... those type of games. My boys LOVE Life, but I can never remember all the rules and have to read the box lid every single time. Plus that games takes too long. They also love Monopoly... gag! :)

We also really love to play card games like Uno or plain old Go Fish and War. I also just taught my 7 year old how to play Kings in the corner. I used to play that game with my roommate in college ALL THE TIME... you know, to avoid studying. :)

we get a new game every month in the winter when it gets dark early, and Tuesday nites is family fun fun! Trouble works (with teams), Clue is a favorite of mine, A friend got us Monopoly Explosion? it is with credit cards and no cash! wild and there is a fast game that we like(I have never been the cutthroat monopoly girl) but I like this one. Chinese checker, and dice game. Like cootie are a fast and fun one to play with teams!
We have the Box of Things Game, and it is fabulous with about 12 and older! We love to do pictionary with a big white board! And Guestures, Yatzee...
Yeah we do games!

I love board games, as do my kids. Their favorite include Monopoly (with a near 5 year old, I am so very thankful for the electronic edition!), Life, Uno, and Sequence. I love Scattergories, but I haven't played it in years.

We have converted to Monopoly Deal, card game, much quicker than the real game. And Cluedo is the house favourite. Our 10 yo has a couple of Lego games but he is the only one that enjoys them (the rest of us just tolerate them occassionally)

I prefer games like Scattergories, Yahtzee, Apples to Apples...

My husband, however, is a true gamer. He has dozens of games that hurt my brain to play. :) He & my son just started a YouTube series rating games, if anyone is interested. So far they've done Kings of Air & Steam, Belfort, Gearworld: The Borderlands, and Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures. Oh and Luke's done one by himself- Pokemon. hee hee.

Games Joel owns that I actually will play are Sentinels of the Multiverse, Ticket to Ride (any version), King of Tokyo, 10 Days in the USA... I'm sure there are others but those are the first that come to mind.

We love, love, love board games here. As a family we usually play games once or twice a week. My brother hosts a weekly game night that we try to get to when we can (about once a month) and another one of my brothers does a huge weekend gaming event that we are going to attend next month (this is no. 10 and the first one we'll be able to go to). We also just had our first game day in our house and are planning on doing one every couple of months (all day affair...people started arriving at 10 am and it was 11 pm before the last guests left).

Needless to say we take our games seriously...when we lived in the Chicago area we lived about an hour away from two really awesome board game stores, which we frequented. Now we have to order online, but with so many gamer friends nearby we still get to try a lot of them before we buy them. Right now my 2 favorites are 7 Wonders and The Castles of Burgundy. I got to play King of Tokyo a couple of weeks ago and that was a blast. I also really love Times Up. We watch tabletop and end up buying probably 50% of the games featured there (if we didn't already own them).

Here's a layout I did last year. Some of the games didn't make the cut in the move, and we've added probably 10-15 games since this layout was created.

I love Scrabble and Monopoly. DH and I play sometimes.

We play Apples to Apples a lot with family. Mostly, we do Mexican train dominoes. We get pretty competitive with that.

Cute idea for a LO, BTW, sarah.

Thanks...I should take a picture of our current shelves and do another one. We still have approximately the same number of games...just not the all the same ones.

Tabletop is a show we can actually enjoy together- Joel watches for the game reviews & I watch b/c Wil Wheaton was one of my teenage crushes.

I would love to play more games. I might get to play sometimes when I'm hanging out with the nieces, but don't get to play much with other grown ups. I even like to watch other people play board games - anyone else watch Wil Wheaton's Table Top on YouTube???

Sarah your game closet page is the bomb! your kinked tape on the door is fabulous!! and we love blokus! that is an all nighter

I have ALWAYS loved board games starting with Chutes & Ladders and Candyland. I also love Trouble, Life, Clue, Who Knew?, Guess Who? and we used to love the DVD Harry Potter game.

Love Games! One of our favorites is Settlers of Catan. Also enjoy Apples to Apples, Catch Phrase, Taboo. We play all kinds of card games - Rook, Spades, Canasta, etc. Our oldest likes Life and Monopoly and I make her play scrabble with me for the vocab/spelling practice. ;) I'm excited that the little girls are getting to the age where they can play some things with us - Uno, Dominoes, etc. Can't wait to have family game nights in the future!

I am going to have to check out some of these games--and someday, I want to host game nights, sounds like so much fun.
