EEP. Michael's. Hobby Lobby. Jo-Ann's. AC Moore. Even Wal-Mart/Target/K-mart/Dollar stores/Staples/Office Depot.

Craft Stores! They are my Kryponite, hehe. I can breeze through a mall filled with clothing boutiques and ever even be tempted to enter one. But set me in front of a craft store and I'm history.

I ran into Michael's yesterday with my 2 little ones, looking for items for a particular craft project they wanted to do. As I entered, I firmly stated "We are not going to spend all day in here, guys". 90 minutes and $75 later... LOL. But hey, we got some great deals :giggle

(Side Note: my son and husband can do the same thing in Lowes/Home Depot, so my guilt is soothed)

Craft Stores: Do you love them? What section to you head for 1st when you have time to kill? Fabric? Scrap supplies? Jewelry making? Home decor? Art supplies?

I tend to start in the paper crafting areas and work my way to the other departments as time permits, LOL.

Tell me I'm not alone!

I've been known to get lost in them a time or two.... lately I head to the kids craft area first, but usually will tour the entire store. I've told my daughter the last few times "daddy will be mad if I buy this paper. I have tons of paper to use at home already" and then she repeats it to me as I pick things up to look. Oh, and I tell her "don't touch things" then I do it down every aisle... haha. I always think, hmm, this would be fun to try.... then my husband chimes in with "why don't you try one of the other 7 projects you bought supplies for and never tried first"

Not too many stores dedicated to crafts in Quebec. DesSerres is really an artist supply store not so much crafts. Target is gone and wallmart so so,but probably thank goodness. I love supplies... There are a few dedicated scrap booking places but they seem to go out of business as fast as they open. There is a really cool bead store not far though.

This is totally us when we shop! Yesterday, my DD (she is 10) even said "Mom, I really love this but I don't know what I can do with it... tell me I don't need it." :rofl Like mother, like daughter!

My heart is broken for you! :sorry

Remind me to NEVER move to Quebec, LOL.

I have been tending more and more to the paper crafting areas myself. But really, the only enjoyable way to go is without children. I spent a good 15 minutes in the clearance section of Hobby Lobby the other day talking myself out of buying yet another Project Life core kit--it was only $10.25--I am still kind of lamenting the fact that I didn't buy it!!

Oh , don't talk to me about craft stores ( craft fairs are even worse ) They make me spend on average 3 times more than I intended to spend going in, and it is always paper /card stock , peel offs and glue pens . It used to be all sorts, but now that is what makes me drool, and if there is a magazine rack with craft or cardmaking magazines well any budget is just out the window then . In Malta we only have 3 really good craft stores, the rest are art supply . But in the Uk every November they have a fair called hobbycaft at the Birmingham conference centre (NEC ) if I could go every year I would, but once every 3 or 4 years is ok too ....lol

Yarn, paint, paper, beads, all the other stuff... what I don't love, my kids do, pretty much.

I probably make up for it with digi supplies and Bureau En Gros (staples) card stock.

We do get to speak French.....

I am getting better at just not going IN. I am gathering supplies to start art journaling with physical supplies, but I can't find good ones in the stores available to me. I really need an art supply place, but don't have one nearby. I won't drive into Seattle proper to get to one either; hate going into the city.

Quebec sounds romantic. I took French in college and the professor called me in after the final and told me he would pass me IF I PROMISED TO NOT TAKE ANYMORE FRENCH. I did, so there's no hope for me speaking it there.

I'm born and raised in Pennsylvania, took some French in high school, but never did that well. I do love living in Montreal though. It's a little slice of Europe in North America. My French has improved a lot since high school. LOL.

If I tell my son, I'm going to "walk into Joann's for just a minute" he laughs and goes to Best Buy. How is it that a digital scrapper can spend so much time looking at paper supplies and trying to convince herself she'll actually use them? It's totally pathetic!

Oh, Stacy... I hear you. I haven't scrapped a paper page in about 8 years, yet continue to buy supplies, thinking of all of the creative (and rarely completed) projects I can work on.

Oh, and our Target is right next door to our Michael's. I swear I can make a day out of that little trip.

Thank goodness Michael's requires a special trip, not near anything else around where I am. If I lived near a Hobby Lobby, I'd need an intervention.

This is so me. Clothing stores, home dec, eh. No problem. But the paper crafting section of any store is dangerous! I use some supplies in my planner, which is how I justify them, but I definitely have more PL cards and washi than I should. Luckily it's a 15 minute trip to any of the "real" craft stores. Doesn't sound like much, I know, but it's just far enough that I don't make the trip there unless there's something specific I need. On the rare occasion that I'd have time to go kid-free, I can usually convince myself that if I went home instead I'd get more than an hour of scrapping time.

I do this at many stores.... something always catches my eye. Target, Michael's, Jo-Ann's, and so many more. We have loads of stores, and I'm lucky most of them aren't attached to a mall. (Malls are crazy, lol). DH and the boys will wander to another store, or go sit in the car and not so patiently wait, lol!

I love craft stores of all shapes and sizes. We have a Michaels and a JoAnns and I frequent both of them so as to ensure neither will go out of business. As a hobby collector I tend to visit whatever section of the store pertains to my most recent hobby. Lately I've been making a bee line to the yarn section. I also love the paper sections, but I don't buy too much there because I'm a realist. I know I won't be doing paper scrapping anytime soon. I do often have to bring my boys with me so that actually helps me to stay focused and go in for only what i went for, so it helps me spend less. I do love to just wander sometimes though.
