Pad Patter: 6/2 - Checks

it took me a minute to work out that you meant cheques :giggle too funny! No, no cheques used here .. all internet banking or cash or Bpay over the phone :D

Rarely, I just checked. The last check I wrote was to pay taxes(april) , and before that it was the fire department for smoke detector inspection (July 2013) . Funny you asked this today. Costco food court only takes cash.... And I learned recently checks. Friday I ended up behind a lady writing a check for her $1.50 hotdog. And yesterday I ended up behind a different lady doing the same thing! I don't mind people who use checks except when they insist on writing out the entire thing, and they don't start writing any of it until the cashier announces the total. Seriously, the date, to field, and signature could be filled out while waiting for the total.

I rarely write a check. Like Katherine I use my debit card. I pay our bills online. My DH either uses mainly cash but does use checks at the grocery store. Yes, he does the shopping, he knows that I won't buy all the goodies he wants.

we still write a few checks. some things are just one-time deals and aren't worth setting up an online payment.

very rarely. usually just for sports and school activities.

i was just thinking about this last week because i am the cookie mom for my daughter's girl scout troop and one mom gave me a check for her order and the bank wouldn't accept bc she wrote it wrong. she was embarrassed and said she never writes checks anymore and literally has almost forgotten how to do it! the lost art of check writing .... :)

I pay all bills online but the cable and propane bills for our trailer in the States are sent by cheque. I get a sheet of US cheques printed out at the bank every once in awhile. I remember the days when we would browse thru the book of samples every yr to pick out our new cheque design and then wait with anticipation for about 3 wks for our pretty new cheques to arrive.
