Sleep is such a waste of time ;-)
I have a reversed sleep cycle. Sleeping has a lot to do with your amount of cortisol. Cortisol is the stuff that makes your motor running. With normal people cortisol goes down in the evening to prepare you for sleep is very low during the night and starts to rise in the morning to get you ready for the day and usually peaks around 9:00 or 10:00 AM. I did a lot of cortisol tests. if you have insomnia it can be useful to know how your cortisol level is at night time. Mine peaks twice like the Swiss Alps. not gradual like normal people no, it just shoot up at noon and an midnight and drops like a dead fly after an hour. I fall asleep around 6:00 AM and sleep till noon. It's annoying, it ruins the little social and family life that I have. No cozy breakfasts with hubby during the weekends, brunch maybe but his day is half gone when I wake up. i have been trying to reverse it but have not found the magic button yet. So I stopped fretting about it and now do what I want to do at night when all is quiet and sleeps. I read, I scrap, I shop, I write, drink espresso and chat with mu daughter who is 9 hours ahead of me. All in all I sleep maybe 4 hours. Not restful sleep more like a coma, and wake up in the same position as I went to sleep in.
Before I got an iPad stand that holds my ipad next to my bed, I used to hold it while reading. More than once I woke up with the iPad screen stuck to my face. ;-) Apparently sleep overwhelmed me and I lost the grip on the tablet. Must have been a sight.
I so envy people who can get up early at 5:00 and enjoy a sunrise and the birds. I curse sunrise and the birds for letting me know it's time the normal people get up. It's always a reminder I'm not one of them anymore.
