It's Mother's Day. We are all mothers or daughters or sisters or friends. And today is the day that we celebrate the women in our lives that have loved us, spoken into us and continue to do so.

So, have a wonderful day and love on someone who needs to know that she is appreciated.

BTW, there is a Mother's Day post on the blog from yesterday if you need some inspiration to scrap that special someone or your relationships.

Now, what are you doing today?

Honestly, it's not a big deal over here. I'm going to church, then picking up lunch (because I refuse to cook today). Then we have a piano recital this afternoon (sigh) and I plan to hang out with the kids tonight while DH has meetings.

I'm also gonna try not to feel sorry for myself b/c the only acknowledgment I've received has been. Well, nothing :giggle.

It's not about me, right?

don't feel bad jen, i'm sitting here with my fam having coffee and not one has acknowledged the "day" yet. lol. my daughter and i did spend a few hours of the day together yesterday ... late lunch, hanging at B&N, etc. and she said it to me yesterday, so ...

today we just have a soccer game and then some outside garden/chores to do ... it's gorgeous out, so being outside will be perfect!

Happy Mother's Day Lilypad Mamas!!!

My college BFF and her family was here for the weekend, so we all went out to breakfast together and then they hit the road. my kids gave me their made in school presents and now it will just be a regular sunday. I got a new car last weekend which took over as my mother's day present. :) DS has a birthday party to go to this afternoon....we are just going to laze about some as the kids are tired from their friends being here....too much playing/excitement, not enough sleep.

Thank heavens for teachers! I just wish they had arts and crafts in High School, hehe.

And congrats on your new ride, Molly :)

Jenn, enjoy your coffee and your day!

We are going to get out of the house in a while and go to the zoo with my SIL and her family. It's usually just another day, except for sure I don't make dinner, lol!

Not much going on here either, DD felt bad that she didn't make or get me anything so I told her if she really felt bad about it she could clean the kitchen. She's in there washing dishes now. <3

DH is on call this weekend and has to go into the hospital this morning. We can't make any sort of plans when he's on call so it's just a low key day. Making shepherd's pie for dinner tonight with leftover roast so at least dinner should be quick and easy.

My DH and I are staying home as he woke up during the night sick. Next weekend my son will take us out to eat to celebrate Mother's Day.

My DH gave me the sweetest card. The title of the card says "Mi Corazon" but the rest of the card is in English. What's funny is that he didn't know what it meant, he just knew that I would like it since I used to teach Spanish. He figured it mean "wife" or something like that. I told him that it actually meant "My heart." :giggle

We went to church and then out to breakfast today. My husband will be cooking me pot roast and vegetables later. Several of my kids sent flowers and one went to the Mother/Daughter banquet with me. I probably won't hear from the others. I miss those days of school cards and gifts. The kids were always so pleased with themselves. Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!! Especially to those that are in the thick of it with smaller kids...that's really being in the trenches full out! Me, all of my kids are grown, so I'm all about a low key holiday. Every year I get the questions from my kids asking what I want...which is so hard. This year I took matters into my own hands and made it easy for them. Whenever I would see something I like as a possible gift suggestion, I posted it on Facebook and tagged them. They clamored to claim whatever I had posted LOL. Maybe next year I'll send them to TLP. ;-)

Not a whole lot going on here. I made a huge breakfast for hubby and the grandlittles ... confetti pancakes, sausage and eggs, fresh fruit, etc. My youngest one called this morning to wish me a Happy Mother's Day, nothing from the two oldest with the exception of my son, he texted to say he was going golfing and he'd pick the littles up later this afternoon (there are three of them and they've been with me and grandpa since early yesterday). :huh

Hubby said something about going out on the lake after DS picks the little ones up.

Other than that, I went shopping here at TLP and bought some FANTASTIC stuff with my April Challenge discount and the prizes and chat coupons I got from iNSD ... think I'm gonna spend some time scrapbooking until hubby and I head out onto the lake. :fairydance

I was up most of the night with my Mother's Day present. :)

I also ordered myself this necklace last week as a combination anniversary + Mothers' Day present:

The only 'rule' I have for Mothers' Day is that I don't cook, so DH is currently making pancakes for brunch. In a few hours, we will be going over to my ILs', and my FIL + DH will be grilling out for MIL + me. I didn't get to attend the Mothers' Day event at DD's preschool because I was having her baby brother, but the placemat + card she made are proudly sitting on the table.

Just got home from church and have been showered with cute handmade cards and gifts, plus some chocolate, from my kids. DH got me a new iPad case, lol. While it's been a lovely day, I can't be the only one who would be ok if we never celebrated Mother's Day. Though it's well intentioned, I just feel like it can too often be a day of unrealized expectations, guilt and pain. Also, these holidays always sneak up on me! I didn't do anything for my mom or DH's mom... I guess a phone call will have to do.

My daughter graduated from high school today and she was a valedictorian.... so I got to have a proud mommy moment. Before the ceremony we went out for brunch with my parents, my sister and her family and all of my family. Then we had dessert at Cold Stone and Starbucks (they're right beside each other so people went where they wanted). Oh, and to start out the day, my two oldest went and got me a pop from Sonic and doughnuts that are my favorite.

It's been a really good Mother's Day for me.

Oh congrats to LeeAndra and MissKim! Happy Mother's Day mommies!

I had the best Mom's Day yet. I did get up at the buttcrack of dawn, something I do not enjoy, but it was so we could go to Mimi's for breakfast. Yummy! My son brought home flowers for me on his lunch break Saturday because he had to work today. I'll take it! My 7 year old gave me the lovely picture she made me in school. My big gift from the kids was an external hard drive, woot! My Dad got me a skin care set from Clinique and a gift card to Belk's. I took a longish nap and then my husband popped a frozen lasagna into the oven and I made a salad. We did go thought our daughter's toys and ended up with 2 give-a-way bags and bag of trash. I also got new curtains hung up and a load of laundry done. Fun day!
