Pad Patter: 2/19 What kind of books do you like to read?

I confess I haven't read much in ages. I LOVE to read, but I think it's because I get so easily lost in a story when I read...so that everything else falls into the background until I'm finished reading. I'm not good and pausing once I start, so sometimes when I start a book I literally don't stop reading until it's over. AND that doesn't work so well for me for real life. Haven't figured out how to make it work, anyway.

When I do read, I enjoy most anything except romance novels.

I read pretty much everything -- except Amish Romance. That's a joke. I have nothing against Amish Romances, other than I don't really read romances at all other than a few contemporary ones, that are more funny than romance like The Rosie Project (if you haven't read it - read it. A slightly more clueless Sheldon Cooper -non scifi geek- looking for a wife soooo fun!!). Right now I am really into the dystopian fiction and post apocalyptic, but it just read "Twenty-Eight and A Half Wishes" which is mystery-romance-ish. It was cute.

Anyway, for some reason my Kindle thinks I want to read Amish Romances and Chicken Cookbooks (I hate chicken and I don't cook...) Their recommendations are kinda screwy sometimes...

This mystery series is an oldie but a goodie. Not sure when the series started late 80's? early 90's? Anyway...if you like humorous cozy-ish (no detective) mysteries, Victorian times and Egyptology, Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody (Emerson) series is the best. And there are tons of books. Really fun.
Crocodile on the Sandbank is the first one. From Amazon: Thirty-one-year-old Victorian gentlewoman Amelia Peabody has not only inherited her father's fortune, but she is also blessed with his strong will as well. Now she's headed for Cairo, accompanied by a girl with a tarnished past, to indulge her passion for Egyptology. Little did she know that murder and a homicidal mummy lay in wait for her.

I love so many kinds of books! I just finished the Rosie Project and The Interestings, which were booth really good. I'm also reading The Husband's Secret, which I also really like.

I adore books about small towns with quirky characters. FUN!!! Plus I still like a good scary book.

Have you read any books by Lani Diane Rich? The Fortune Quilt is about small town with quirky characters :)

If you like comedy/romance/mystery....have you read the Janet Evanovich series? They are fabulous! I've read them all!

sorry but I still cant make the quote thing work.....
I had forgotten about her, for a jolly good laugh a good dose of" Stephanie Plum " by Janet Evanovich can't be beaten. I adore grandma .....
do read one Dalis you will have a laugh. :giggle

I like memoirs and historical fiction. I read a ton of classics, too, but I teach English, so I have to.

I just finished rereading David Baldacci's Camel Club series. Before that it was his King & Maxwell series. Also, The Book Thief, I just finished. The Eight & The Fire by Katherine Neville were good. I have Elizabeth George's Just One Evil Act from the library up next...

I absolutely loved the No. 1 Ladies Detective series. I want to travel to Botswana now and just enjoy their slow easy pace. It's definitely not my typical type of book I read, but I did love them

I love historical fictions and I read a lot of memoirs too.

Some fantasy and fun stuff as well! :)

I loved the books and was very unhappy when they cancelled the tv series. Botswana lept to the top of my must visit list after reading this series.

I always have several books on the go, so depends on my current mood as to what I read. I have just finished the first Flavia de Luce book - loved it. Never thought I would love a 11yo detective but it is so well written - lots of fun.
Also am half way through The Forth Bear by jasper Fforde, Loved his Thursday Next series, completely absurd.

And the new Kate Atkinson, Life after Life, is next on my list.

Oh and any Janet Evanovich, makes me laugh out loud.

I am a huge fan of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal fantasy, I like a good romance (sometimes super saucy!), I love classics like Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer ... seriously if it is written I will read it!

love nora Roberts, jd robb (aka nora Roberts), Sandra brown, linda howard...I love to read and have so many great reads on my kindle fire hdx
