I am so obsessive and compulsive, you all might have picked up on it. I can't just dust and vacuum a room. I pull the furniture away from walls, clean the baseboards, take off pictures from walls, wipe down walls, and dust the pictures. When I was first married, I could do the whole house (albeit) we had a smaller house; in one day.
Now I do one room in a day, and then take two to recover. It totally wipes me out.
So yesterday, I hired a lady to clean my kitchen, living room, dining room and homeschool/office. She made me laugh, she said, "girlfriend, you get a discount, cause you are so organized. This is gonna be easy to clean!"
I laughed and and am so excited that my house will be clean they way I love it!
I want her to come every other week after that, but it is such a luxury. We will see.
Have you ever done this? I am a bit freaked about it. but very excited! She does the deep clean next Tuesday!:yesss

I don't, but I wish I could do it. It is too expensive around here.

I have a lady who comes every week. She comes on mondday morning. I am really glad I have her, it takes a lot of my shoulders and she does it great. Allthough sometimes she has missed spots and I get a bit nervous about that...

Oh, this would be my dream luxury - someone to come clean my house. With kids, work schedule, church, etc., it's so hard to get it all clean all on the same day so it feels like a never-ending job.

When DH and I both worked full time we would have the house cleaned twice a month. It was wonderful! We, however, would not get your organized discount, Anne! If we had someone come in and do it now, they'd probably want combat pay! :lol

our town is very very cheap...I mean wicked cheap, or it would never happen!!! lol,

I had a housecleaner when my kids were very very small. But now they are both in school and I don't work....so now I am the housecleaner. Well, in theory at least. ;)

I always said I would love a gift certificate for a house cleaner then for a spa treatment! LOL...my biggest issue is I would want to clean the house before they get here! LOL... I have had the white glove during moves in/out of houses as I would work up to the moving date and I did not want to clean someone else's mess to move in to a house. Happy Birthday Anne, and so glad you are getting a house cleaner!

Good for you Ann! I wish I could afford one, what a treat that would be.

This!! But I would love to get everything at ready-for-maintenance level so I could get someone to come in and do mopping, dusting, and bathrooms - that would be so nice!

In our town you have to contract them EVERY WEEK and it's a starting rate of $200.

:faint2
this is a couple that work together, and it is $125 for the first deep clean, top to bottom
then I can go bi weekly, or monthly and or weekly for $45 whatever I want.
I think I am gonna do bi weekly, and stop drinking sodas! lol

I can't imagine what a deep clean would cost around here.

I should go and clean houses, it makes more than teacher assistant.

That is awesome Anne! I would love to do that, but I'm too cheap to pay for it. We really could use it though as house cleaning isn't even near the top of the list of things I'm good at.

I'm hopeful that after both kids are out of college I might be able to swing housecleaning once a month. Then I would just have to maintain.

The baby was born right around my birthday and my momma gave me housecleaning service (2x a month) for a year as a "hello baby" and "happy birthday" present. Best.present.I.ever.received. Seriously..I know it is in part due to the season of life I'm in right now, but I've not been able to keep up with housecleaning like I want/like/need to and this service has helped me feel like my home is tidy and clean even when I can't devote the time to it. It's been such a stress reducer. Once the gift is over I think we will try to keep up with it monthly.

I have a lady that comes every other week. She's not the best, but it keeps me honest. I have to make sure everything is picked up for her to come, because she only CLEANS, not tidies. I'd love to find a better one but I haven't been able to motivate myself to do it.

Mine started out similar.... from DH - I asked for this gift for Mother's Day! It has worked and that is now our Mother's Day/Father's Day gift for each other... DH loves it too, so we kept her on and now it's been almost 3 years. We both feel we spend less time tidying and more time with our kids, have a bit more fun and relaxing time too! It's not too bad, $75 or so for every 2 weeks, and she really is a great cleaner. My house is kinda small though... but asking around, that is a good rate for my area.

I pick up anything that's on the floor that can be put away, and make sure counters have less stuff so she can clean. I don't clean before she comes. It stays yucky, lol... I just neaten.

Oh my goodness Anne...at that price I'd have one come in too! For a deep clean for me it would be $500, and then $150 every other week...$100 a week if we went weekly. It's more work than it's worth for me right now with the grand babies here. Once they move out I'm getting the deep clean done!
