Pad Patter 11/17: Black Friday sales

Last year (or was it the year before?) we went out...but not in search of anything in particular. If I had something that I really wanted to buy that was an awesome deal then yes, I would be that crazy person in the line wrapping around the store. But for the most part, I shop online. A lot of the sales can be found online on Thanksgiving.

As for stores opening early - I really don't think it's necessary. I don't see the difference between opening at 5am and opening at midnight. When I was younger I went with my mom a couple times and the stores opened at 5am, I think that's acceptable. It's sad that employees can't enjoy the holiday with their families because the general population is pushing to have stores open at an ungodly hour.

No NO NO! ACCCK! I work for a retailer (logistics dept) and we are and have been knee deep in Christmas since the end of September....

and as a side note... I LOVE that Nordstroms waits till black Friday to unveil Christmas!!!

to me, nothing is worth getting up that early and fighting the crowds! i went once, not early just mid day and so many people were rude and obnoxious that i said i would never go again!

No Black Friday here either, we have BoXing Day sales and I agree with ppl, the crowds aren't worth me venturing out for either. Lol

I'm with Angie, Julie, and Keely with the emphatic NOOOOOOOOO! Nothing is worth putting up with mobs of rude people on a mission. I hate crowds and malls normally, so I generally avoid the mall completely from Thanksgiving until Jan 15th when people are done returning! Plus I have found that many of the advertised deals are available online too! And then I don't have to get anxiety about the crowds! *snort*

I have never had any desire to go shopping on Black Friday. I'm just not much of a shopper in general. I don't have the patience for it. LOL. I do lots of shopping on line though, and I've noticed the last few years the online retailers are getting better and better about sales and free shipping and whatnot.

I'm another that doesn't go out on Black Friday. I'll take advantage of online sales, but I hate crowds and I just won't do it. There is no deal that's worth it to me. I'd rather pay full price or just not get it at all!

I do have to work on Friday, and even though we don't mark anything down, we still have a busy day...our sales goal for the day is about three-four times our normal sales goal. We aren't opening too early either (thankfully). I think the earliest anyone has to be there is 7:30. I don't have to be there till 11!

I won't go out shopping on Black Friday. I can't stand the crowds and lines. However my DH thought it would be fun to give it a try and sat in his car in a parking lot most of the night to be the first in line at a Radio Shack. He was first when the store opened at 4:30 a.m. and he got the ONLY Xbox for their sale price of $200. He was happy with his efforts. :)
