Pad Patter 11/15: Groceries!

I feed 4 people (one in diapers - which I buy at the grocery store because it's cheaper) plus a dog. We shop at the grocery store on base, which has it's ups and downs. Most stuff is cheaper, but you don't get sales like buy 1 get 2 free or 10 for $10. I shop once a week plus an occasional trip mid-week if the kids run out of milk or I forget something on my list. When my husband is home we spend about $140-150 a week. He's been away at training so I now spend about $90 per week.

I shop for 3 ad go every two weeks. I might go in between if I need something but that doesn't happen often. I spend about $360 a month on groceries.

I feed a family of 4 and usually shop once a week. Occasionally, I'll grab a few items during the week if we run out of one of our necessities. I try to buy strictly organic products, but around here that's hard to do. I have to shop at two stores (the commissary, an on base grocery store and Wal-Mart, because that's really all we have) to find everything I need. Because I buy mostly organic, it's a bit more expensive. On average $175-$200/week.

there are five of us. i do one weekly-ish shopping trip and then make small runs here and there if i really need something. otherwise i try to stay away because that one small run can quickly turn into an extra $50 or so.

we usually come in around $700 a month on groceries right now. working on getting that down to $600, but it's pretty tough. like so many of you, we have someone with special diet needs in our house. so buying healthy on a budget is quite a challenge. i definitely use coupons when they make sense. i'm not the kind of person that uses a coupon just because i have it. i will only buy what i need, or what i would buy anyway without the coupon. but they definitely help! i once saved over $200 combining coupons and store promo's.
