PAD PATTER: 1/29 Are you a crock-pot queen?

I do not like the taste of meat cooked in a crock pot. It just tastes... crock potty.

I do use it to make soups. We really like this potato soup: All Day Potato Soup.
I would agree, if you add moisture...it can "boil" the meat...gag..I dry crock pot, so it simmers in it's own juice..chicken and pork

I use mine ALL the freaking time! like 70% of my winter meals are crock pot! :P

THE BEST Crockpot meal: 1 bag of frozen tortellini - 1 small bag of fresh spinach - 2 cans of italian style diced tomatoes - 1 box or 4 cups or vegetable broth - 1 block of cream cheese - put all ingredients in crockpot, chunking up the cream cheese. Cook on low for 5-6 hrs. SCRUMPTIOUS!

I love using the crock pot...I just am rarely organized enough to have everything ready to go before I head out to work!! My favourite recipes are ribs and whole chicken recipes...I can post links when I am back on my laptop.

my mouth watered, and I am scared to go to monica's pinterest site

One problem I have with many crockpot recipes is that the time limit doesn't work for us. I'm gone for 9 hours most days, so I need something that can cook that long without getting gross.

This for me, too. It was easier when I worked 4 minutes from home and could run home and start it on my lunch hour but it's rough being gone for 9 hours... it's mush.

Then it would be perfect for you! You just put all the ingredients in it before you go to work and when you come home: dinner's ready :)

That sounds like heaven... maybe I should actually try to find such a thing ;)- googling to find out how it's called in German...

I really should get into crock-potting! Its too hot here at the moment to think about it but I will add that to my Winter to be tried things :D

It's perfect for summer because you don't have to turn on the stove.

LOVE my crock pot. I would use it more, but I often forget to set it in the morning.
My very favorite thing is refried beans: http://www.alaskafromscratch.com/2013/01/08/crockpot-refried-beans/
I love to do a whole chicken: http://www.laaloosh.com/2012/08/24/crock-pot-rotisserie-chicken-recipe/#.UD7cf41YnpI.pinterest

I make french dip using a sirloin roast, 2 cans of beef consomme, 2 cans of french onion soup. Chicken breasts with my favorite salsa is an easy dinner, I'll make rice or put it in tortillas for tacos. I do pulled pork with a pork roast and root beer, then shred and add BBQ sauce when it's done. Frozen meatballs with grape jelly and chili sauce. I make chocolate lava cake in it every Valentine's Day.

Vielleicht Langsamkocher? ;) Because that's what it does; cooks slowly.
