MOC 23 Paint Dipping
January 23, 2020

Early head shots for my friend's band back in the 80's. They didn't go far, but the drummer, Ricky, was good enough to be in Rick Nelson's band, but sadly he was killed in the plane crash with Rick, 3 days after his 23rd birthday.

I used the paintbrush on the card below the photo - dipped the top in green and the bottom in the purple/blue.

I used a tag that was already painted, but I painted the edges green over the gesso that was already there.

I made the "Rockin' Shadows" word art and dipped the words in green on the bottom, and purple on the top - and left some of the white in the middle.

Elements used:
Stitches: A New Me Collab
Word Art, wood background paper: "Life is: Having a Brother" Collab
Music Note Paper Card I colorized, leaves spray, tag, paint edging, : "Life is: Feeling Grateful" Collab
Music Note paper flowers, word stamp behind picture, : "Laugh Often" Collab

Journaling:
I have always wanted to try some techniques that professional photographers utilize, but I've never really been able to replicate them well. Today's challenge was to photograph a "Flat Lay" of any subject. I chose to represent "Morning", with a pair of jeans to show a little of that soft fabric-y goodness. I think they came out pretty well. As I was deciding which one to put on the actual page, I was humored to see that the one I ultimately picked was the very first test shot that I took! I took about 20 other pictures, but this one presented the best in my opinion. I guess I should have stopped at number 1. I would have saved myself a lot of time and now my back wouldn't ache so much!

Elements:
graffiti, backgroun paper, Pink flower with blue button, "It's About Time: Tomorrow" Collab

butterfly, foliage, small pink flower, "this is now" washi tape, yellow flower: "It's About Time: Today" Collab

Selfies and I are a weird thing. Sometimes we are the best of friends and I get a really good picture. Most of the time, I find myself taking 20-30 shots to get one that I like. I have been self conscious about doing them because a few years ago, a very dear long time friend ended our friendship, and one of the parting shots she had was about how people who are on social media and take lots of selfies are self important narcissists and I need to re-evaluate and see just how egotistical I am. I was hurt to the bone, and didn't do selfies for a while. Then I realized that stopping gives HER the power over me. I'm not her victim anymore. SOOO, this picture is also a victory, because I rarely if EVER let a sick selfie go through, but here I am. I'm tired of coughing, I'm tired of sleeping on the couch, and I'm tired of people judging me who know nothing about who I am. So yeah, I don't always look like this, but if I do, what business is it of anyone's to judge me for it?

and with this, I finish MOC 8 2020!
This is for MOC31 January 31, 2020 "The End"

Journaling:
"I look at this picture, and I see a boy and a girl so carefree and happy. Not long after, on the eve of their 4th month anniversary, he broke up with her. This was the End. It broke her heart, and she really tried to understand, and then after much conversation, he revealed that he had a problem with her being Catholic. This ending is such a heart wrencher. The first heartbreak is so hard to get over and understand. This won't be The Last Time. As I was sitting praying over the situation, this quote from a U2 song kept going through my head:

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

and I felt the first bit of peace about it. Melissa and Sam's beginning has ended - and now that wonderful NEW Beginning is on the horizon - let's look to that and the future!! "

red flower, "Life is: Feeling Grateful" Collab
