I have just sent my DH off to India for the next two weeks. I'm both nervous and excited for him. It's his 1st trip to India and I've never been there, although would love to visit as well sometime.

The last place out of the US I've been was to Belize, but that was years ago. I need more international travel in my life :giggle ... but alas, it's expensive and I keep sending my husband and son instead of going myself! Sigh.

When is the last time you traveled outside the country you currently live in? And how far did you have to go to get there? (technically, I've been to Mexico a few times recently, but I don't count it since it is literally 15 miles from my in-laws' house and we go there for dinner or ballgames like it was in the same town, hehe).

I know some of you are world travelers! I want to live vicariously through you.

Our last out-of-country trip was to Phoenix in November. My parents have a home there during the winter, and we love to go visit and get away from the snow for a little while.

We're not much for world traveling though, although we did honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, but that was more than 20 years ago!

We travel quite a bit these days, now that we're empty nesters. Our last trip was to Peru, last summer. It was a fabulous trip - wonderful sights, food, culture, people! I would highly recommend a trip there! I haven't started scrapping the photos from that trip, I'm still working on a trip we took to visit our daughter in New Zealand four years ago!

Where do you live?? I thought you were in the U.S.?

We go to Sweden once in a while, and we went to Austria in May. I definitely wouldn't call us world travelers. I'd like to go somewhere every year but we don't have a lot of money so it's often wishful thinking. My parents want to visit from the US this summer and we may meet up somewhere other than Denmark but it's all up in the air at this point.

I so want to be a world traveler, but can't be until Darren is out of school. I'd seriously love to do one of those months-long, around-the-world type trips. Or just live on a boat.

The last time I was out of the country was in December 2012 (ouch!) to go to the Dominican Republic. Before that it was Aruba, which I would move to in a heartbeat if it were feasible.

Darren has been to Africa- mainly Kenya and Tanzania- 8 or 9 times. He's also been to Madagascar! And he may do a med school rotation away in Africa again. And now I'm wondering how he gets to do all the travel while I'm home working? :giggle

My last out of the country trip was to . . . um, Canada! LOL And I was 15. So as an adult, I've never left the contiguous US.

I did have a dream, now and then, of traveling overseas. Until I started traveling a lot within the US for work, and had more than my share of air travel horror stories. Now, I get extreme anxiety when flying, even though I've done it over the past couple of years, it really does take a physical toll on me as well as emotional to work through all that. LOL

The bottom line is I'm a homebody, and I enjoy being here and being comfortable, enjoying my hobbies and my family. That sounds so lame, but to me, that's happiness.

I lived in Indonesia for almost 10 years and did some traveling in Asia while we were there. But sadly, since coming home in 2009 I haven't left the country. It's a crazy long trip - usually around 30 hours with layovers and such. My dh and dd went to Nicaragua in 2013 and dh went back to Indonesia this summer. So I think it's my turn!

I used to travel a lot, but not so much now. Funnily enough, my DH is going to India to work for a while soon! He is so excited about it. But I wouldn't be so keen lol

I've left the country 3 times (or 4 if you count the short drive from San Diego to Tijuana around 1992, which I don't LOL). In 1998 my husband and I traveled with his parents to visit Sweden to meet his brother's fiancee's family. We returned to Sweden for his brother's wedding in 2000, spending a week in Paris before the week in Stockholm. And then we went to Sweden one more time with our oldest daughter just before she turned 1 in 2002.

Our last trip anywhere was across country to see my family in 2013. It has gotten so expensive to travel. :(

I love to travel and wish I could more. I don't even want anything fancy. An RV trip across the U.S. is actually the kind of trip I would most want to do right now. I've flown across many times but have never driven across.

We started travelling about 10 years ago. We have covered much of SE Asia (Laos and Singapore are my favourite places). New Zealand is nice and close and our local airport has just announced direct flights there so that will be good.

Did Spain, Portugal and Thailand over Christmas - loved it so much but it such a long trip - Australia is so far away from everywhere..

My two oldest kids both went backpacking in their gap year through Europe so they have travelled more than I have but I hope to catch up.

Our youngest wants to go to Greece next but I think it will be somewhere a bit closer, maybe Sri Lanka or India.

It's been a long time ago, but I traveled to Mexico City and Acapulco. We saw pyramids and parasailed over Acapulco Bay. It was great. I'd love to travel more, but it hasn't been in the cards for me so far. Maybe after retirement :)

I'm in Alberta, Canada, which is beautiful and white right now with a new snowfall last night, but also cold! I'd much rather be back in Phoenix!
It is in the 80s here right now. As we've discussed before.... your parents' winter home is somewhere near me (same city). I wish I could split the degree difference with you. :/ it is ridiculous to be 80s in February :tantrum

I did missions trips to Mexico as a teenager with my youth group. My mom and I went to France and Spain when I was 10. I want to travel more.

My Timehop reminded me the other day that it was five years ago that I went to Paris (for six hours) and England for ten days. That was literally the reason I chose the grad school I chose... they had two mandatory 10-day residencies. Once a year, the residency was in England (it wasn't required to go to England, but I used it as an excuse), and the other annual residency was in New Jersey (not *quite* as exotic, but I did use it as an excuse for a sidetrip to NY). So I dragged my degree out a bit and went to England twice and NJ twice as well.

Before that, we honeymooned in Fiji (2005). Seriously amazing. We started out planning for Mexico, but Fiji was actually a better deal for the time we were planning.

And in 2001, I earned a trip to Barcelona for Junior Chamber World Congress, and had a crazy whirlwind Planes, Trains & Automobiles side trip to Italy for a couple of days.

My daughter and I are plotting to head to Italy (or Ireland) next year. She's saving her money (from this year's income tax), and I'm trying to figure out how to squirrel away enough for Tim & I to go too. She, and even Kennedy, want to go to Paris as well. I'd love to see more of it too. We're going to be watching out for Groupon deals and hope to find something that will work out timewise. And if dear hubby doesn't want to cooperate, or we can't come up with enough... I just may leave him home. ;) The call of Europe is so strong with me.

My husband goes to India about three times per year for work. The first trip he took some extra time to see a few things, but now he flies over, works and flies home. Last time he had a day layover in Dubai.

Last time out of the country for me was Niagara Falls this summer. We took the kids to Mexico in 2009ish. Jeff and I went to Paris for our anniversary in 2007. When we were first married, Jeff had a job that took him out of the country for three weeks at a time. We didn't have kids and I had a flexible job, so I would fly over the last week and site see while he worked. Then we would take a week or so of vacation to see the area. During that 18 months, we went to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Scotland and England. Prior to that we went to Greece on our honeymoon.

We're currently in the process of trying to book a trip to Europe for all of us... but haven't exactly figured out the details yet. As you can imagine with multiple trips to India a year plus traveling Mon-Fri most weeks, my husband has amassed a chunk of frequent flyer miles... trying to figure how to make the most of them.

I forgot to add that Alex has a country the rest of us don't have as he went to Haiti with the youth group a couple of years ago.

That happened to us too for our honeymoon! We were trying for something "simple", like the Caribbean. And somehow Greece was a much better deal, so we went for it!

Oh I love to travel. We don't travel out of the country nearly as much as I would like (especially since we now have 4 kids - that's expensive!) In our pre-kid days we went to France and London and I've been to the States a lot (we live in Saskatchewan in the Canadian prairies). We've been to Mexico and took everyone to Hawaii in 2014. This summer coming up we're planning a big trip to NY, DC, Boston, Orlando and the florida Keys so I guess that'll be the next time.

It's been since 2011 since I've traveled internationally. I spent a month in Italy. (oooh now I have ideas of a minibook in my head...) It was a long trip, Seattle to London and then London to Rome. Goodness, I didn't realize it had been that long since I've traveled internationally. And I live about a 2 hour drive from Canada.
I've been to Hawaii recently, it's not international but a great place to travel. Since I'm back in the Seattle area, the flights are that much shorter to Hawaii.
