Today is Oreo Day!

I am not a huge sweets eater, but I do really love Oreos! I purposefully don't buy them very often because when I do I eat way too many!! Double Stuf is my go-to, but DS likes the Golden thin ones. I also prefer the regular flavor, but I do like the lemon and mint ones occasionally. Ohhh and I love deserts and shakes that are made with Oreos.

Do you have a specific way that you eat them? Twist them? Dunk them? Eat them whole?

I have loved Oreos pre gluten intolerant, just the plain ol’ ordinary ones though. I haven’t found an equivalent here yet that’s gluten free (in saying that I haven’t ventured too far into GF sweets yet)

I'm not sure if they are available where you all are, but they have them in most stores here and most of the reviews I've seen say they taste just like the original.

Love oreos but don't buy them as I too would not know when to stop! I do get the mini oreos in the bag sometimes as we make our own ice cream and we used to add the mini oreos for "cookie & cream" ice cream!

I am an original flavor oreo eater, although the double stuffed or the fudge covered are good for a change. The original oreos need to be twisted, eat the cream and then dunk

Do you have a favorite flavor? I like the thin Oreos that are mint, but I love the Double Stuffed and regular as well. Not a huge fan of other flavors besides the mint and regular.
Any favorite recipes with Oreos? Yes! I take one large container of Cool Whip and a half gallon of vanilla ice cream and mix that together in my Kitchen Aide. Then I add in crushed Oreos making sure it's well blended. Then I refreeze and it's sooooo yummy. Here's a photo of it:

Haven't had a Oreo for years. But I did like them!

Funny story. A scrapping friend from another board lived in Canada for a few years due to her DH's job. She loved Oreos but hated the ones sold in Canada. Whenever she came to a retreat in the USA (we were having retreats all over back in those days), she would buy several packages to take back. During a 3 year period there was a retreat near her in Canada and several of her close friends would bring a couple packages of Oreos to her for her stash. She brought a bag from Canada with her once and several of us tried them and yeah, they just didn't taste the same.

We recently watched something on tv and he ate a double filling style oreo. I think that we are losing out, we only get the thin ones, we do get the blonde ones, choc and peanut butter though.

I loved the Mint Oreo Blizzard they had. I wish they'd bring it back!

I like Oreos but I can keep them on hand for the grandkids without eating them all up. I think the ones with the pink peppermint filling are yummy but I can rarely find them. I always separate the layers, eat the filling, and then eat the outsides.
When we used to travel a lot, some European friends would request them (along with snack size baggies).

This is an easy Oreo dessert that is yummy.

OREO ICE CREAM DESSERT
23 Oreo cookies
1/3 cup oleo
1/2 gallon mint ice cream
1 jar hot fudge topping
8 oz. pkg. Cool Whip
Crush Oreos and mix with melted oleo. Press into the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Freeze. Let ice
cream set out for awhile to soften. Place ice cream on top of the crust. Freeze. Pour hot fudge over ice cream. Freeze. Spread cool whip on top. Freeze and serve.

whole, split in half, dunked & anyway they make it into my mouth!

I made some dark chocolate cupcakes with OREO candy cane buttercream once & they were DELICIOUS!!! You grind the oreo cookie part with candy canes and then add that into buttercream- SO good!

As a kid I liked Oreos, and I loved Oreo cookie ice cream.
As an adult, I switched to Newman's O's and that's what my kids are used to.
In recent years, I've severely reduced my cookie eating though, and don't eat packaged cookies anymore. I'll still enjoy a homemade cookie when my daughter bakes though. And occasional frosted shortbread cookies from Panera.

Gluten Free Oreos are delicious or so does my hubby tells me. We buy them for him and not touch them. LOL!!!
