Doing this with kids is a great ideaI love that your gratitude journal helps. That's one reason I do a gratitude journal with my son.

Thank you! I started doing it with my kids last year and have loved it so far.Doing this with kids is a great idea

I’m sorry you’ve had a day Jan! I hope you can sleep it off so tomorrow is better.I am mostly an optimist, but today is not the day and I am not the one
Maybe I'll reply again tomorrow hahaha
I’m glad it comes naturally for you Michele. I feel the same.I'm very good at being optimistic. It comes naturally.
Very well said! Good job living life to the fullest.I am an optimist, I don't tend to worry about things and just go with the flow. My husband always says to be how come you don't worry about things loads. I told him no point wasting my energy worrying as it never changes anything, I just go with the flow as never know what will happen tomorrow. Enjoy life in the present otherwise you might miss those amazing memories

Yes that makes sense. I think there’s value in considering the worst case scenario as long as you’re considering other options as well.I'm not honestly sure how I would describe myself. My husband is definitely a pessimist. He and his mom and dad all seem to go straight to worst-case-scenario and assume that's the inevitable outcome. I absolute hate that! I do, however, consider the worst-case scenario and calculate for the possibility, but I tend to focus on the good and the positive. I think it changes the trajectory of things and lands you somewhere closer to the best-case-scenario than you would if you only focus on worst-case. Not sure if that makes sense??
So is my husband! Mr. Doom and Gloom

"Things can sound pessimistic, but that's reality." Well said.I would say that I am optimist, but a realist too. So sometimes things can sound pessimistic, but that's reality.
Maybe it's a guy thing? My husband and son are the same...
I’m impressed you and your sisters are more free of drama than your brothers! That’s not the case with my siblings. I love how you called it your husband’s “pessimist hour” hahaI totally agree with this, it must be a guy thing. Actually I've seen with my brothers the same, they are pessimists and very emotional, actually I think that my two sisters and I are more analytical, realistic and free of drama than my brothers are.
My husband is unpredictable, some times is quite optimistic and sometimes so pessimist than really makes me laugh, I have the tendency to imagine violinists playing while he is in his "pessimist hour", I used to do the same with my brothers, so I can't help laughing at him, and seems he gets deeper into his pessimist ideas, lol., my brothers used to cry when they were kids and saw me laughing.
Your DH is the rarity in this thread coming through with the silver lining!I'm an optimist. Previous to my CEO of all the things name by my user name, I was something Polly Pollyanna - or something like that. I have a layout from MOC 2016 named Pollyanna, and that was the year I won, lol!
I am real though. I think things through, work through and figure out how logic and emotions will play. I still choose to find the silver lining. When I get really overwhelmed, DH steps up to show me the silver lining. It's worked out. He grounds me.
I hope the next 10 get more optimistic for you.I used to be an optimist but I have become much more pessimistic in the last 10 years or so.
