Olympics | Pad Patter 8.4.16

Our dinner was a big success tonight. What did we ever do before Pinterest? Here's what we had.
Caipirinha (lime and cachaça drink), Pão de Queijo (cheese bread), Moqueca (fish stew), Escondidinho (beef, cheese, and mashed potato casserole), Beef Kebabs, and Flan. So good!

Nope. Not a watcher. Even though local boy (man) Phelps will be swimming. I watched my grandson swim enough to still worry about chlorine nose! I like the winter stuff er sports.
That's funny! The Olympics are the reason my girls were competitive swimmer growing up, and my husband still coaches our high school swim team.

I think Cynthia @MrsPeel will keep a close eye on it as she is Brazilian, right?
Me, I am also someone who watches in pieces, I do not have the patience to sit a whole afternoon and watch this.
I also prefer the gymnastics, what they do, makes me so like "waw, how do they do it?"

I am an Olympic nut and have been since I was little. I'm not a huge sports fan, but the Olympics are a huge exception. I DVR any and all coverage that is on and watch as I have time. I've been known to still be watching the games a month after they are over- knowing how the event turned out doesn't diminish the excitement of seeing it live one bit for me. And I will totally admit to getting choked up watching our gold medal athletes standing on the podium while the national anthem plays.

I used to watch with my parents as a kid, so this weekend I drove 2 hours north to the house where I grew up to spend some quality time sitting on the couch with mom and dad watching the games.

As for being an athlete myself, I'm mediocre at best. I figure skated in high school and did lots of Taekwondo after college, but was never anywhere near good enough to even consider competing at the state level, much less on a world stage.

I love it all from opening ceremony I closing. Gymnastics and diving are favs but since I'm bedridden all I have is my tv and laptop

I love watching the swimming, diving, gymnastics and tennis. DH loves the track and field too, so the tv will probably be on a lot during the Olympics.

@Scrapping with Liz I think you can watch most items on NBCOlympics.com or the NBC Sports App. They should be free, and then you can pick and choose what you would like to watch.

You have to log in...at least that's what Shawn just told me when I mentioned it to him. We found a way through Dish. It's called sling tv. We can get 7 days for free...if we like it we can pay monthly. $25 for a month. No contract. So, we might pay the $25 so we can watch it & then cancel after the Olympics are over.

Nope. I like a good hockey game once in awhile, but generally don't watch sports.

I did sit down to watch some and it was the women's swimming. Darn it if the cable didn't flicker and cut out for a bit right at the end of a race Katie Ledecky was poised to win (which she did for the gold). I got fed up and that was Sunday's Olympics for me!
