Old TV Shows | Pad Patter 1.31

I didn't watch Rin-Tin-Tin but I do know about it.

Another story about an old show. Andy Griffith Show. Aunt Bea and Opie. When my cousin was playing college football from 1969-1973, he introduced my mom to some of his friends as his "Aunt B" (her name was Beve) and when he and his wife got their first cat, they named it Opie. I lived with them for about 6 months. They had the cat and a Great Dane. Both loved to snuggle with me on my bed while I watched TV. Now I'm a dog person but Eric, the Great Dane was just a little too big for me. Opie was the only cat in my life that I let even get near me because I am not a cat lover at all!!!

I watched a lot of the shows mentioned here! I was a HUGE TV watcher because there wasn't much else to do in our small town. I remember being so excited when we got a VCR and I could record shows. The one I remember the most was recording the final episode of Cheers. I was in college and had to work that night and couldn't watch it, but when I got home I got to watch it and I thought that was so cool. LOL

Most of these are from the 70s, but there's a good amount from the 80s and 90s, too. I need to do a layout about this!

We were just talking to some friends and hubby mentioned Rin Tin Tin and they had no clue. Are we that old? Anyone remembers this one?

I remember it but never watched it.
But that reminds me of how much I loved Lassie when I was little!

That's the other show we were talking about because hubby sarcastically calls our dogs Lassi and Rin-tin-tin because they are so sweet but dumb!

We didn't watch much TV when I was growing up, but my Dad loved MASH, so I remember watching that with him. We also were allowed to watch Dukes of Hazard and I remember waiting all week to watch that. :giggle

My sister and I loved both Lassie and Flipper. And then when I was a mature 10 year old, I watched Dark Shadows. That show was awesome when you were 10!

Well, these will date me but I had favorites like Captain Kangaroo, the Rifleman, Bonanza, Perry Mason, Rawhide, Sky King, and American Bandstand!
Carol you will laugh at this.. I lived the next town over from Bob Keeshan (capt kangaroo) he lived in Babylon on Long Island.. I was a sr in Drivers Ed and I was driving as we passed by his house. There was someone out trimming the bushes thought it was the capt and almost ran us off the road! Lol.. also I lived down the block from Chuck Conners (Rifleman) sister and he would often come to see his niece and nephew who we went to school with!!

Yes to this!! My grand uncle was a carpenter for mgm and did some of the sets for Lassie out in California!! Do you get tubi.com it is a free tv stream service. They have all of the dark shadows episodes there.. I used to make sure I was home by 4 to watch it every day!!

I never lived close to anybody famous. In fact, I cannot name one famous person from Omaha, except @norton94

I will have to google it!
LOL So funny :) I am near Omaha, but live in Des Moines area... like your user name I'm Iowan :beat:heartlub:beat

I just read that the tv show All in the Family debuted this month in 1971. Those of you who are old enough to remember, can you imagine that show airing today? I don't think it would ever happen, but I loved it when I was younger. Another favorite of mine was Happy Days and I remember crying crocodile tears when it ended. Some others that come to mind are Alice, One Day at a Time (I wanted to BE Valorie Bertinelli lol) , Knots Landing...so many good ones! In college, I quit Lifeguard training because it happened to be at the same time that Knot's Landing was on :giggle. Oh the days when you had to wait a week or more between episodes and dedicated years of your life to a show. That seems to be the exception more than the rule these days.

Do you have any old tv shows that you remember fondly from your youth?

Jan both All in the Family and One Day at a Time were produced by my uncle :D I love that they were big memories! I remember them being on too... also wanted to BE Valorie Bertinelli {btw this was before my aunt married him in 1986}

I loved Barnaby Jones... and rushed home from school to watch those in rerun while I did my homework. Also older favorites that were rerun in evening of course I Love Lucy, Brady Bunch etc. so many oldies but goodies. And I've explained to my kids just what you were saying about having to be home to see your shows... crazy now to think that way again.

There were a lot of shows I loved watching, even though we had our TV watching curtailed to 1/2 hour a day. So, if we wanted to watch an hour-long program we'd have to forgo another day. But some of my favorites throughout the years were: Captain Kangaroo, Sheriff John (local L.A. show), Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Mr. Ed, Mickey Mouse Club, the Courtship of Eddie's Father, Gunsmoke, Fantasy Island, the Love Boat. I know there are more but I can't remember them right off hand!

Why is it that thirtysomething is not available to rewatch... that was a good one! And Golden Girls was my Grammy's favorite - we always watched it together when I spent the night :)

Me too!

I loved My Mother the Car with Jerry Van Dyke.. Ann Sheridan I think was the mother in the radio of the 1928 porter :) of course leave it to beaver, Donna reed show etc

I know! It's one that's not on any streaming services and you can't even purchase on DVD. I haven't gone onto ebay to see availability. I wasn't even in my 30's and I loved the show!

Mickey Mouse Club here too!!!
And Little Rascals!!!!
Gilligan's Island

MASH- don't like it now, though. lol. Funny fact: My Dad didn't realize Klinger was vying for a section 8:ballonhang and we had to explain it for him, Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Bless!
Lassie!! :heartlub:heartlub:heartlub:heartlub:heartlub:heartlub:heartlub
A Team- Love the way Mr. T hated to fly.
American Bandstand. (had to sneak watch that :giggle:giggle- very conservative parents! Same with Saturday Night Live back in the 70's. THOSE were SO MUCH better than the episodes now. The comedians were more clever and less
snarky.:disagree

The Flying Nun!:angel wowwwww that goes waaaaaaay back!!
Love Boat
Twilight Zone!!!

There are more, for sure, but I gotta get dinner into the oven!
