Old Skool* | Pad Patter 9.21

I've hung onto a few cases of cassettes myself even after the time consuming running them thru my computer to make them Cds years ago (they're like my backup backup!) but my mum has kept a lot of records even after several moves & downsizing too- there's definitely something about old skool musik !

I also iron mostly pillowcases but also my cotton blouses. My daughter in law irons sheets (!) and her eldest child - my grandson - got so used to it he now does it himself.
That's total dedication! My DD & DH are lucky to get their school & work clothes ironed! In summer it's almost my worst chore!

I know this isn't something you can still do but my hubby and I were reminiscing about Movie Gallery/Blockbuster type places where you could go and pick out a movie to rent. Now there is no need with Redbox, Netflix, Amazon, etc... We were talking about how we missed that....our kids have no clue!

I do prefer real books. I tried reading a book on the kindle once. That was it.
I know! It was a real event going to the video store! And you had less choice so I think a consensus was easier! Mine find it as hard to believe that a whole shop was dedicated to renting movies as believeing the library used to just be paper books wall to wall!

I'm still good with checks and even the eye rolls I get :giggle.
lol I can only imagine eye rolls, I can probably count on one hand the number of checks I've written in my life & still have a few fingers left - I do remember the days of cashing them as pay though & the like 7business day wait for them to clear! Not missing that!

I like to talk on my iphone rather than text, especially if I need to explain something. If it's going to be more than a few words, I call rather than text. I know, i know... old skool! hehe

I also prefer to read from a paper book than from a screen.

oh and I still like to get paper bill statements in the mail versus email statements. Paper bills are right there in my face so I don't forget to pay the ones that I can't put on auto payment, otherwise they'd get lost in my email and I'd forget to pay them. I also like to get my bank statements in the mail. I don't know why just want to have proof that I really have that much money in the bank in case there's an EMP and all electronic data gets wiped out... conspiracy theorists unite... hehe
I never thought about that re: EMP! I'm a bit freaked out now & might have to go print a bunch of statements! :circles

I feel like dvd's are old skool nowadays, so yeah, those. But I cannot think of many other.
I guess I'm just hip and happening. Or maybe my word choices? lol!

Wow, you still have your 45's? I'm really impressed!! I had tons and tons of those. We kept them in their little paper covers but we carried them around with us everyplace we went. We never left home without them. I'll never forget the time we (whole family) went on a car trip and my sister left all of hers in the car (it was summertime) and they all warped so badly that they were ruined. She cried for days.

Mine are stacked in a pink plastic case exactly like this one:

I carried it everywhere. Now it's tucked in my hall closet on a shelf :)

I did get rid of my 45's last month in the dumpster. Quite a few of them were warping so out they went. I also got rid of VHS tapes of movies and cassette tapes of albums. Some of the cassettes I had on CD's so no need to keep them. However I did keep 3 cassette tapes of the Oak Ridge Boys that I taped when they performed at the Ohio State Fair. They were there every year and I went 3 years in a row to see them. Those are more sentimental than actually good music though!

Would you believe that in my small town there is still a video rental store? Everyone questioned when it was built thinking it would have no business but it is still there and doing fine. Not everyone uses the streaming services... for me they were a waste of money because I never watched them. Guess that is another way I am "old skool". I don't have netflix or hulu. I do have a Roku that I can get YouTube and Amazon Prime (that I mainly use for the free shipping) on but I honestly don't use either of them that much! And, yes, I still have cable. Got rid of it 2 years ago and didn't even last 6 weeks. I have my favorite channels and missed them... couldn't watch them through any of the streaming services.

I print out Mapquest maps before I go on a trip even if I'm planning on using GPS during it.

We still watch live TV too. We also use Netflix but I’ve never been able to get our PVR to work .....
