Hi everyone! Sorry for the mishap of Week #2. Moving onto Week #3! I love Scandinavian Folklore or Folk Art! I love the vibrancy and earthiness that it's conveyed.

Some of my favorite things about this type of Folk Art are:
    1. vibrant colors
    2. symmetry in most cases
    3. flora/fauna theme
    4. dark backgrounds on occasions
    5. lithography stamp look
    6. hand carved stamping

PINTEREST BOARD: SCANDINAVIAN FOLK ART (these on the image here are only a few from the Pinterest board)

Let us know what inspired you about this type of folk art and make a page.

    Challenge Requirements:

    1. For the Monthly Muse, create any style layout (ie. clean and simple, artsy, pocket style etc.), with or without a photo. Create any size page you wish. The Art Muse is for everyone; have FUN!

    2. You can use any products in The Lily Pad store or retired products from current Lily Pad designers, (just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines).

    3. Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE by Midnight EST, 02 November 2021; and post your layout in this thread by copying the "Share BB Code" to the right of your gallery image.

Each post, regardless of the week posted in the month of October earns you one chance to win a $5 coupon to the TLP store. Thus,

    1 Muse = 1 chance to win
    2 Muses = 2 chances to win
    3 Muses = 3 chances to win
    4 Muses = 4 chances to win

This will be different, at least for me. Looks like fun, though.

It was super weird for me too, even though I like it, I am not used to this. I put some grids on my page and copied and flipped either horizontal or vertical everything as I was adding it.

You know what? I have more that falls into this category than I realized. I don't have the Becca kit you showed, but I have some of her kits. I also have Lynn's kit that's similar to Jule. I'm playing right now. This will be fun Dalis.

    I love your page!

So I was inspired by the simplicity of design especially vertically across. I have covid and lock down in mind when I made this.

    Hope

While these digi elements are embroidered, they still remind me of tole painting. My DH's maternal grandmother was Hungarian, and when she visited Hungary (as she did a few times during the time I was blessed knowing her), she brought me back some embroidered treasures in this style. Here is a link explaining some Hungarian embroidery folk art.

I found an image of an art piece that we used to have hanging on the wall, and I remembered the old prayer that we used to say with my Swedish grandparents.

I hope this fulfills the requirements. I don't typically buy "cartoon" or hand drawn pieces, so instead of using the art style, I used the mirror technique with elements that I had in my stash.

I am Danish, so that easy, but I had not realized how similar it is to Mexican art , It really is -in style. Not so much in colour, but some of the styles could be interchanged . and no one would know LOL So I decided to do a page about that. .
    Thanks for the challenge

As soon as I unzipped the patterned paper of this collection, I remembered this challenge. Not sure if I stayed on its spirit when I added all those elements!

My take on the challenge - I was inspired by nature motifs (flowers and animals) and use of repeated patterns/shapes that are nearly mirror image. I realized Allison Pennington is really good at making flower based papers that have that rhythm and flow. I also realize that using patterned papers is not my forte - but I am trying more and more to use them.
