November | Pad Patter 11.2.23

I also start to think about Christmas shopping a little bit, but it's usually best if I wait until closer to Christmas before I start actually buying anything, otherwise my kids end up thinking of other things they want and I spend too much money. :giggle
This is me! I would prefer to buy early but my kids change their minds too much!

What are your typical activities in November? It's been exam time for so many years. Weird to think this year will be the last of that too.
Anything you do this time of year that’s different than the rest of the year? Not really we don't celebrate Thanksgiving or anything. It's warming up and Christmas is looming.
Any special November celebrations? With us having two birthdays at the end of October, November is more a recovery time for us.

Am not enjoying the cooler/colder weather or the shorter days. Since Chase graduated from high school in June my kid/GK sports days are over ... well at least until I have great-grandkids playing. First great-grandbaby was born on the first ... he's a bonus grandson (bonus (step) granddaughter's baby) ... and unfortunately they live on the west coast, while I'm here on the east coast.

My granddaughter's birthday (27th) is next week, as is Election Day. My front lawn needs mowing. My backyard is mostly low-growing "creeper" so I'm done mowing it since I've decided to let the leaves alone b/c they are firefly habitat. And of course, Thanksgiving. I assume will be going to my sister's as usual. I'll bring candied sweet potatoes and maybe an appetizer. I've started my Christmas shopping.
Congrats on the first great-grandbaby! I think I will miss the sports days when my kids are grown so I try to remember that when I’m sick of driving to all the practices. ;) That’s nice you leave the leaves for the fireflies; I’m debating leaving my leaves but I don’t know if they’ll ruin my lawn. I love my mom’s candied sweet potatoes!

In Sweden, this weekend is a time for remembering the ones no longer with us. We decorate and light candles on the graves. It’s so beautiful to visit the cemetery at the evenings when there are so many lights. Next Sunday is Father’s Day here, my hubby won’t be home so we won’t celebrate it much. Last week of November usually means we put up our Christmas window lights as a first part of the Christmas decorations.
It’s nice to hear what Sweden celebrates in November Ann-Sofie. I bet the cemetery is so pretty lit up. We remember those who have passed in May and celebrate Father’s Day in June. I hope you enjoy putting up the window lights. My son has kept our Christmas lights in his room year round so I had to buy more for the rest of our house and tree.

I do not miss the days of exams. ;) I completely agree that recovery time is needed after a bunch of birthdays. I hope you’re able to take it easy Stefanie.
