So here the challenge for this week, finally! Thanks for being so patient with me!! xx

Week 3: Nov 20-27 | Contrasts in Art: Patterns
We are continuing our monthly muse of Contrasts in Art by looking at Contrasting Patterns/Shapes this week. One simple contrast that quickly comes to mind is to use a round shape pattern versus a square shape pattern in a digital layout.

Your challenge this week is use use a contrast of patterns/shapes in creating your layout. Focus needs to be on the actual contrast of patterns. The patterns/shapes can be in various forms like papers, elements, stamps, drawn shapes etc etc. You may also wish to use a photograph that has contrasting patterns/shapes in it so this week's challenge is really open to quite a bit of interpretation. You may create your layout about any subject you like.

Here is my page. I went with a contrast of triangle and round patterns/shapes and used a variety of different products.

Credits: Please see Gallery.

I am looking forward again to seeing what you guys come up with, I know how very creative you all can be! Remember you can scrap in any page design or style you like, just make sure to have fun with it!
Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE prior to December 3, 2018 and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code".

We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month, even more incentives for your inspiration! You can use any products in The Lilypad store, just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines. :)

If you have any questions about the challenge then please ask away here :)

Like Cheryl, I just started playing. It started with a photo I took of the pattern in my coffee the other day. It looked like a little world under a microscope and reminded me of a Richard Akeroyd quote I loved. I tried to contrast circles and squares, order and chaos. Truly an art journal page for me!

Wonderful collection of inspirational and creative pages so far ladies! LOVE how different everyone's pages are!! :heartlub

@mcurtt Brilliant concept Marilyn and lol! @Cherylndesigns I had to chuckle at your comment Cheryl .......... I have quite a few of those types of photos, patiently waiting!!!!!!! hahahaaa! most of them I will use for texture overlays I think ..... one day!!! :giggle

Another Great Challenge!...Using Shapes As A Contrast To Other Shapes & Textures Is Something Scrapbookers Do Quite Often...Sometimes Without Realizing It...Either Way...I Went In A Completely Different Direction Theme-Wise Than What I Had Originally Planned To Do...

*The Contrasts In My Layout...Start With The Use Of All The Circles...In Which There Are Many...Element Wise & In The Photo I Used Where You See Many Round Ornaments In the Trees...The Larger Darker Circle With All The Texture Is Actually A Photo Of Stained Glass That I Cut Into a Circle For Further Contrast...And This Is In Direct Contrast To The Rectangle Photo & The Square-Shaped Layout...Which Also Contrasts To The Texture Of The Paper Albeit Not A Lot Of Texture But It Is There....If You Look At The Photo You Can See The Church Steeple That Is Shaped Like A Triangle & The Rather Large Tree Just Below Is Also Triangle-Ish-Shaped And Finally The Many Different Glitters That I Used Where I Deliberately Applied A Different Texture To Each One To Further The Contrast...

*For My Holiday Shine Layout-I Used:

*Countdown To Christmas-Little Butterfly Wings
*December Memories-The Committed Crafter
*Down The Chimney & Fa La La Seasons Greetings-Pink Reptile Designs
*Home For The Holidays-Sahlin Studio
