I heard about this book on the radio (Terry Gross Fresh Air I think). Unlike most other non-fiction books that I check out after hearing them discussed on air, this one was a fast read, and not too lengthy. She interviewed a lot of girls, and she presents her finding/thoughts starting at middle school and working up to college age girls.

I don't know if the subject is appropriate to discuss here, but I found it pretty eye opening and very thought provoking. Since a lot of us are mothers, I thought I'd recommend it, whether you have boys or girls, since the topic effects them both.

@Tiff Thanks for this rec. I have granddaughters and so it will be interesting to hear what their generation thinks. I also have younger ones (10 and 4) and I imagine their mindset will be even different.

I'm an Ob-Gyn nurse practitioner and would definitely gain some insight from that, not to mention mother of two teens...

As the mother of a daughter who leaves for college in 6 weeks, this has been on mind quite often lately. I just downloaded the book to my kindle app. Thanks for the recommendation.
