It's new years eve and we are having a party... of sorts. Nothing big or extravagant - no drinking, just some family (Sis and BIL) coming over for food and games. We are getting Chinese takeout and keeping it simple. The gals/kids are going to play games while the guys watch the football game.

We probably won't even stay up until midnight to ring in the new year. Most years we just turn on the tv a little before 10 pm and watch the ball drop in New York so we can go to bed early but still feel like we celebrated. I know, I know... I sound like an old timer, but that's ok because I probably am... LOL :giggle

So what about you... are you having or going to a new years eve party?

We are having a party too- always do since it's hubby's bday! The kids & dog go out to the lakehouse with papa & grandma! We usually play games & mingle! It's not too crazy- usually just a few close friends & neighbors. I make a couple appetizers & cupcakes. The bday boy has requested Vanilla confetti cake (with a white chocolate pb cup at the bottom) & pb buttercream. I really should be making those than browsing the internet! ;)

Those cupcakes sound yummy! Happy Birthday to your hubby!

We're at our place in Michigan... so we'll just play games and eat most of the evening... lol! I have carnitas going in the crockpot and we'll have pizzookies for dessert! Around 11:30, we'll walk over to the ski hill for the torchlight parade and fireworks. Low key and we love it! I hate actually being out and on the roads on NYE.

My mom and sisters were supposed to come to mine and celebrate. But it’s super foggy out and officials have send out warnings to not go driving at midnight. So now it’s just me and my cats. Tomorrow we’ll still come together and eat all the food we were supposed to bring tonight. So it’s fine. I really don’t like this holiday so home alone is oke for me.

Oh my goodness - I want to be you ha! They are adorable :)

Staying in this year as we have no dog sitter. Poppy dog is terrified of the fireworks at midnight so we wouldn't leave her alone. Our DD daughter and boyfriend have arrived unexpectedly though, so we might have a bit of a party :)

Cozy, comfy and content is the theme for us tonight. We're starting off the night with burritos (burrito bowl for me). I've got on my warm socks, tights and a big comfy sweater and will be curled up in my chair, snacking and watching movies (Knives Out and A Quiet Place). Looking forward to a relaxing night. It's going to be pouring rain out and we'll stay indoors, warm and dry.

I grew up in an environment where Hogmanay was a big thing with everyone out on the street well past midnight partying, and then "first footing" each other's houses. It's not the done thing in the town I live in now, and many people don't know about the Northern and Scottish traditions. So we will have a quiet evening at home. There will be loads of fireworks going off at midnight, we will pop up into the attic room and watch them. We live at the top of town, so look down over most of the houses and are above many of the firework displays.

here is very hot, so our plans are to stay safe, with the A/C turned on and watch the fireworks from my room's window...I live by the sea, and my city has the second big (is it correct to say this way?) fireworks ftom Brazil, first is from Rio de Janeiro and then Santos , wich is my city.
I have the privilege to live here, so I can watch the whole party without dealing with the thousands of people out on the streets...:circles

No party here, but we WILL have Bratz- as in subs with sauerkraut. :D And movies. And pray in the new year.
Be blessed all of you!!

I'm scrapping. Gonna try to finish DYD.

Then at 11:30 or so I will turn on one of the TV stations to show the NYE celebration in Times Square. I much prefer being in my own home, warm and toasty than standing outside for well over 10-12 hours with no bathroom breaks to see the ball drop.

I don't like being out on the roads on NYE either. We love pizzookies. My DD who's on a mission loves making them. I've got some nestle chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge so we may end up making pizzookies too.

Glad you can get together tomorrow. Better safe than sorry.

Looks like you'll get to party a little after all. So fun to have the kids stop by.

Sounds like a great night to me. BTW: is Knives Out available on Blu-ray yet or are you streaming from somewhere? Hubby wants to see it and we missed it in the theaters.

Being able to see the fireworks from your home would be amazing. No fighting the crowds or the cold... YAY!

YAY for not having to deal with the crowds and being able to see the fireworks from home!
