New Year Celebration |Pad Patter 12.30

We are starting a new tradition (I hope!) this year by sleeping over at my sister's house for NYE.

We're dropping my son (who is 2 1/2 & not great at movies or staying up until midnight -- ha!) off at my parents' house first. This will be his first sleepover with Grandma & Grandpa so hopefully he doesn't do too badly. He's such a mama's boy but Grandma is a close second so fingers crossed!

My sister, my BIL, my 12yo nephew, my 7yo daughter, & I will be eating pizza for dinner and then snacking on all sorts of goodies, including my famous brownies, and watching movies and hanging around in our new jammies that we got for Christmas. I'm sure the kids will disappear into the basement for awhile to play Minecraft.

DD has never stayed up until midnight before so we'll see how she does. I know my sister bought poppers & blowers & silly hats to celebrate with at midnight.

I'm at home babysitting my grands while Mom and Dad work, so I'll be watching threads in case MOC starts lol. I don't know what time zone you all are on!!

We will celebrate at a friend's house. We should have a lovely evening with tasty food and stimulating conversation. I'm really looking forward to it. They have a great view of the Space Needle so I hope I can get some fun shots of the fireworks from their balcony.

We usually find a live stream of the ball dropping in Times Square and watch that, even thought it's an hour ahead of midnight in our time zone. This year we totally forgot about it, though, while playing with the dogs (they were being particularly cute last night), so instead at midnight I pulled up a video on YouTube of the fireworks in Sydney Harbor from earlier in the day and we watched that instead.

Can I just say, the Aussies have it right? That display was AMAZING, especially the "waterfall" of fire off the bridge near the end.

We ended up at a friend house for a bbq - what was supposed to be a quiet night turned into something way more fun when the strawberry daiquiris came out - perfect for a hot night celebrating with our oldest friends... (not that I am promoting drinking of course!)

Our family got hit with the flu over vacation. Every 3 days it hit someone new so we didn't make any plans. We ended up all feeling well on NYE so we did a little Pokemon hunting during the day and then hubby grilled steaks for dinner....then the bug hit me that night! Hubby watching movies with the boys and I hung out in bed. I got up at midnight to toast and then went back to bed!!
