New to Scrapping!

This is most likely not the place to ask an important question like this, but I started the big challenge thats going on. Am I going to get disqualified since I only have 4 or 5 kits to choose from? I am about to buy a few more to finish off my challenges.

Absolutely not! If you can do the MOC with only 4 or 5 kits, I will bow down to you as a scrap idol! :lmao

Hello and welcome not only to TLP but to this craft! The ladies have definitely passed along some awesome product suggestions. I would say that it is great to be flexible with yourself and allow your style to develop. Don't be afraid to try new things and remember - there is no "wrong" in art, most especially when there is an undo button!

A good basic alpha is so reusable for title work on your pages. I have quite a big selection but often find myself going back to my 2 or so favourites

I'm on my phone so can't link, but Markerific by C D Muckosky is one I often turn too

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome! My style is constantly evolving and the digital products continue to get better. Here are some of my favorites:

Welcome, you've definitely come to the PERFECT place!!!
It's indeed hard to recommend things... I advise to just spend a happy afternoon looking through the store and filling up your wishlist! You'll find A LOT of amazing stuff!
If you absolutely insist on inviting financial ruin to your doorstep ;), have a look at the BYOC (Build your own Collab). It's like a dinner buffet in a luxury hotel- everything too delicious to miss. Every BYOC (it's always released on the first Friday of a month) I swear to myself, that this time, I will only choose three items. THREE. Only three, not one more, that's right, threeeee. And then, I happily load 30 things into my cart and am through check-out before I can stop myself.

I've bought a few things and I have a bit I am planning to buy soon! I've got 6 of the challenges done so far. I am not sure if I am doing them right but we shall see! I'm not sure how to share my pages with others yet either. Still learning a lot!

I see the gals have been helping BIG TIME!

I just wanted to say WELCOME!

This of it in terms of neutrals and basics. I am not sure what your scrapbooking style is, so check the store and browse around.

If you have a picture in particular you are looking for a kit to match. I run a monthly thread called "personal shopper" where I help people find the "perfect" kit for a page or a theme they are looking for.

Also, this about one good neutral ALPHA that you could use over and over, maybe one that comes in brush form too.
Some basic background papers, there are tons of sets in the store that will have you cover and then you can tweak them into what you want.

Welcome. Id' say check the gallery - see what appeals to you and check what those designers have to offer. Each designer has their own unique style and as a scrapper, you'll find that you do too.

Hi Ellie and welcome to the pad! So glad you have joined us and found the pad for this wonderful hobby & fun! The girls here are wonderful and based on what you like there are gazillion of things to choose from. I use CS3 & CS6 and I also have PSE11 too... so your CS5 is perfect!!

What I like too is every Wednesday here at the pad is the SOSN (Something Old Something New) 50% off sale that the designers select items from their store and offer them at 50% off. The sale is a one day sale though. Also Fridays are 20% off designer new items and check out the Polly Picks and the trend categories as they are good sales as well.

Join in on the chats that happen... every month in the announcement forum they note what days and times the chats are and sometimes there is even a coupon for the shop for those who attend!! It is a great way to meet others here at the pad, and have fun. The speed scrap is a lot of fun and that is in chat form... the speed scrap is an hour in the chat room and similar to the MOC blind scrap where you get instructions. You have usually 1 hour after the chat to load your page to the forum. There is also a slow chat that is the same as the speed scrap but it normally needs to be done by the next day at 10 am or so.

If you complete all 31 MOC pages by 2/1 you will automatically get a $20 coupon to the store plus eligible for the drawing of permanent "polly"... that is a coveted position... everyone wants to be a polly!!!

All the designers here are great, so it is hard to say which kits to get as essentials not knowing what your "style" is...look around and window shop... there are always contests and such going on here, and the camaraderie of everyone is so great!!!

As Anne said go to the designer's FB pages... some have blog challenges monthly for nice prizes too and that always helps to build up your stash... ****WARNING**** make sure you have plenty of space on your hard drive or external drive as it is definitely addicting and you need a place to keep your stash!!

Hugs and welcome again!!

Hi Ellie, welcome to the pad sweetie! As to my MUST HAVES..... pretty much everything in the store :D

Hey! Welcome! I think that the best thing to do is to look through the gallery to get inspiration. It took me a while to fall into a style, and the great thing about digi is that my old stuff isn't taking up a large storage container in the corner of the room. There are so many great products and you got so many great tips that I honestly can't think of anything to add!

Welcome to the fun!

Hi and welcome :) I am glad you found this forum and store :) They definitely do have the best challenges around and make you step outside your comfort zone at times which I love as well; makes you learn new things and tackle scrap styles you may not have even entertained before :) I agree with the huge Amy Wolff paper pack as a must have by the way! I have it too and use it a lot! It has all the colors of the rainbow!
