Hi! I decided to start digital scrapping and found this store/forums when I googled some kits. I bought a few things and then I saw the advertisement on the store for the month of challenges and decided to give it a shot!

What I have found is since I only have 3 kits and a few masks I am decades behind in getting pages done. I am learning a lot. My question is I've seen a lot of really cool elements/ideas that I love and I am curious to know what some basic must have kits/templates/things I should stock up on so that I have a really good base of supplies to really enjoy what I am doing?

I love what I have been able to do so far, and I am excited to get to scrappin'!

<3,
Ellie

A big ol' welcome to the most addicting and fun hobby!! The added plus are the people that do it, the bestest!
What program are you using to make your pages, that is really what needs to be answered first...
then I want to tell you, that
all
of
us
were new once, and we really
want you to love it, so ask as
many questions as you want!!
We love it

I have CS5 as well...works for me!!!
And like Anne said...we all started were you are right now...so any questions...ask away
Plus, if you head on over the the TLP blog...there are a bunch of great tutorials on some techniques.
Also...TLP has a wonderful sage that is full of advice...you can find her here...

As far as kits or items you need...it really depends on what you scrap and your style
But TLP again, has the answer to your problems...Dalis is your resident personal shopper!!

Hope that helps!!!

Not sure about recommended products, but I did want to say WELCOME to digi scrapping and to the Lilypad!!!!

Welcome to digiscrapping! Just a friendly warning - you'll be hooked with this hobby. For me, it's not a hobby anymore. It has become a lifestyle lol.

Anyway, I do have a few must-haves from TLP store and will post them here in a bit.

You are certainly in good hands here at the pad. I just wanted to add a welcome to TLP Ellie!

Oooh ty for the kit ideas, I see 1 or 2 I had to put in my cart! What I am liking most about digi-scrap is... my fingers aren't constantly stuck together! :D

This is most likely not the place to ask an important question like this, but I started the big challenge thats going on. Am I going to get disqualified since I only have 4 or 5 kits to choose from? I am about to buy a few more to finish off my challenges.

Nope! This is a non judgement zone. As long as it's 75% current Lilypad product, you can do the whole challenge in one kit. Well, that might be hard, but technically legal :)

I've done the challenge with I think 4 kits so far.

you might go to the designers facebooks too and pick up some of the freebies...
enjoy your pages! That is the most important part!

To know what you might like will depend on what kind of scrapper you are. Were you a paper scrapper? Do you like to use a sketch or are you more of a freehander? Are you a pocket scrapper? Do you prefer simple? Or do you prefer messy?

Based on my experience so far, the challenges are a great way to experiment. Don't be overwhelmed by my questions. A lot of it, you'll figure out as you go along, and if you buy a kit you decide isn't your style, it's not a big deal, and there's often at least a paper or word art you'll like from the kit.

I love this kit:

I love scribbily bits like this:

For the challenge, I've found it useful to have a lot of papers to choose from, so I've loved this:

So far, the challenges have provided the templates needed for the challenges, but I love this set:

Welcome to the Pad!

Jump in and have fun, the girls here are so friendly and fun!

You really couldn't of picked a warmer place to dip your toes into Digi!

Xx

First welcome, so glad you like it here. We all started out with a few kits, so don't worry about that, if you want to you can do all the challenges with just the kits you have.
I know that when I started I kept using the same kits over and over, just changing colours ( you can do that easy in CS5) and adding textures.
Should you want new kits (and who doesn't) make sure you have all the freebies that are going around, and then have a look at the Lilypad collabs, or collabs from designers, they are usually a bit dear, but you get an awful lot for your money. And since it is marked what designer did what , you get to know their styles at the same time.
Here is 1

and here is another, I have this one and have used it a lot,

but don't forget all the offers on polly picks and trends.

the mega solids pack mentioned earlier is great value too.
Most important thing have fun, it doesn't matter if you use the same stuff.

I've promised my self I wouldn't buy any more supplies until Feb ( I know its not too far away and I cheated and bought some stuff yesterday!!) so I really need to remember to come back to this thread in Feb as there are some great ideas for kits from everyone!

Thank you :)

Hi Ellie, I only started in Nov of last year so I'm very new too, everyone is lovely and friendly. Enjoy!!

Welcome Ellie! I'm so glad that you found our little corner of digi-land! :)

Welcome! A lot of what will determine what are "must have" products depends on your style. For me, I'm very partial to neutral pages with pops of color, so a good kraft paper pack is a must have, along with some basic frames, ribbons and tags. Then I just fill in with pops of color from kits or element packs that catch my eye!
