Monday is Goodwill date for my mom friends. They have 2 color tags on sale for $0.99 and you just can't beat that. Especially with kids growing so fast! Last week, I found a deal on a pair of capris for me, but only because I couldn't justify buying the kid more clothes right now. I hate hate hate buying new clothes! The sizes are weird, I hate trying clothes on, and I hate how the fit on everything changes all the time. And I really hate being across 4 sizes! Like seriously, I don't need this pressure.
What about you? Do you like to buy new clothes? Where's your favorite store to shop at? I think my, um, friend, might need to check it out. :giggle

I shop Target alot they have this line right now called Knox Rose and I bought a few of their shirts for summer. Marshalls. And we have a number of outlets within driving distance and I love Ann Taylor. When my kids were younger they wore all garage sale clothes.
I buy all by bras from Soma

I really agree about not enjoying shopping. I never try things on in the store but then when they don't fit I have the even worse 'go back to the store and wait in a never ending return line.' I made the mistake a couple of years ago of getting a bunch of items at Macys, tried them on in the store, and then got in line. Seriously? two checkouts for a floor of women's clothes? plus returns were in the same line. I gave up and just left the clothes. Just before the wedding, I made my first foray into Nordstrom's' Rack. Apparently our store gets a lot of the bottom of the barrel stuff but I found a couple things, tried them on at home, and all went back. At least their check out/return line is pretty short - at least at weekday dinner times.

Sizes?? oh please. I have vague memories of being a certain size and knowing if I bought clothes that size, they would fit. Now? what a crap shoot! and it's true for men's stuff too. I used to be sure if I got Target 36/38 30 pants for my husband they would fit. Not any more. One 36 is not the same as another 36 in the SAME model of slacks!

All this said, I just bought a dress and a tunic on line from Lands End. 30%off and free shipping. God help me if I have to go to Sears to return either of them. All in all I'd rather shop on line but only if there is free shipping in both directions.

I like Kohl's, Gap, Old Navy, occasionally Macy's (like seldomly, if there is a sale and I have a gift card) and sometimes Target. Oh, I do like Ann Taylor occasionally. LOVE Lands End for bathing suits. Bras from Cacique (most places don't have the sizes I need,, and without padding, good quality).

I'm more of a plain Jane, T's, Jeans, comfort. I don't mind trying on clothes so much... as long as my kids aren't heckling me. I usually range in the same 2 sizes, so I just grab both to try on, lol!

I hate buying clothes for myself right now because I am desperate need to shed some pounds and nothing fits well or flattering. My favorite places to shop at the moment are TJ Max, Ross, and Marshall because they have reasonable prices.

So true about the sizes! What the heck is that? I don't remember it being so bad years ago? I love getting deals and rarely buy anything full price ... but the range of stores I like is really big. I just don't like to spend a lot so usually will end up at Marshall's and TJMaxx trying to find the good stuff for cheap. And then I feel like a rock star when I score.

Costco!! Just hold them up for size and returns are super easy! And since I am there every week buying bananas, cheese, and nuts...

Otherwise, Target and Kohl's. I have to be in the mood to clothes shop and have specific items I am looking for -- unless --- I am on vacation and it is for fun. Or if I am at Costco buying bananas and I see a cute shirt or skirt or swimsuit or .... I do look every week to see what is new.

I went this past Sunday with my dd to get some new t-shirts to wear with jeans, casual skirts, etc. Let me just say - I really dislike the colors for this summer. I may have to shop online just so I can get the colors I want.

I'm trying not to feel bummed about it, but I gave away bags and bags and bags of size medium clothes to charity over the fall/winter. Many things were new and almost new. But I was in a purging mode so felt I was never going to be a medium size again so anything that wasn't size large was given away. I had an insane amount of clothes. So, of course, Murphy's Law....a few months later I started my keto diet and am now back into a medium size....ugh. So not only did I get rid of soooo many clothes that I loved and miss, but now I have to go out and start buying them all over again. I'm not looking forward to that. I don't really want to spend the money. Luckily I kept a lot of jeans in the smaller size, thinking they would go to my daughter, but now I will keep them. I will be checking my fave stores over the spring/summer for sales (never buy full price) and there is a consignment store in Bellingham I love to browse thru. They get some really great stuff, not dirt cheap, but still cheaper than retail. I buy a lot at Sears, Kohls, Fred Meyers, Macys, JCPennys, Old Navy and will have to check out Burlington Coat Factory soon as I'll need a new lightweight coat.

Oh I LOVE clothes!! LOL LOL I am a plus size girl plus tall, bad combo! Maurice's is my go to for shopping. And their clothes last far better than Lane Bryant, etc. And they work for my size and figure. Longer shirts, longer pants, etc. I usually just shop their sales, which they have frequently. And their jeans hold up.

BUT I have started sewing and now I notice that the way things fit! I am hoping to get confident enough to sew clothes and alter them. Right now, I am able to alter the length in tops easily. Pants, pants are hard. I can make legging though for about 9.00 and they are just as soft as the LulaRoe ones!

I think I like shopping until I go. LOL! We don't have any good local places. We do have a Goodwill that I browse every couple of weeks and can sometimes find something decent. I would prefer being able to browse Target's clearance section more than once or twice a year. I'm the same way with not liking to buy full price items....I've got to get it on clearance!

I did just take my oldest daughter shopping for a dress for a couple of upcoming "fancy" events she has. She absolutely HATES shopping. I would have been better just to bring her home something & tell her she was going to wear it. She didn't want to try on anything & everything had something "weird" about it. Thankfully I she tried on one dress (even though she didn't really like it at first) and once she tried it on she said it was fine. LOL!

I would rather shop for home goods type items. That gets me excited!

My daughter is really into fashion so she has made me more of a shopper than I used to be. My favorite stores are Loft and Banana Republic but I buy most of my stuff on sale or at the outlets. I also do a lot of shopping at Kohls and Marshalls. I go with my DD to Abercrombie, Free People, Lulu Lemon and Urban Outfitters although I never buy anything there for me.

I have an American Eagle, Aeropastel and Gap household! ... ha ha, just kidding. I do, but it's all stuff I got from Goodwill. All under 10 dollars each. I'm a clearance rack at Target kind of gal too or ebay on occasion.

For those concerned about sizes and the plethora of ones you "are"... Don't. It's all a psychological thing. You're not a freak, it literally is a marketing game aimed to psychologically make you feel better. It started a few years ago, I worked at Bath and Body Works and we used to get 50% off of Gap clothing being we were the same company.

I went in and always got the same size. A year and a half later, they were celebrating one of their anniversaries, I went in, used my employee discount to add to theirs and bought a whole load of my size. Went home, tried them on and nothing fit. I took some of the jeans that were same size, same brand, same everything and looked at them side by side.

I went in, returned everything and got the right size and then talked with the manager whom I was close to as I babysat her kids. She smiled and nodded and explained.

"If you went to say (insert brand name store here) and tried on pants at a size 8, then wandered over to our store, found some pants you liked and tried on an 8 and then found it didn't fit you and tried on a 6 and it did, where would you buy from?"

She knew I studied psychology and would get it so I just shook my head. But she was right. Psychologically women need to feel like they're gorgeous because we never quite think we're perfect. And if we can say we fit into a 6 when in others we fit into an 8, we're going to keep going back and purchasing stuff at the store we're "smaller' in. We need that lift. It makes us feel good about ourselves and when we feel good about ourselves, we are more likely to part with our money to keep that good feeling going.

There is, however, the sizing mandatory issue that tries to keep everything in the realm of distinction. I forget what the law is called, but it's supposed to keep some sort of regulation so there's not to disparaging of a discrepancy between the sizes. But, at least now you know why you're across so many sizes depending on brand!

Wow @Serena I didn't know the psychology part behind it! I knew the vanity part, and have read about that. I hate it. Only because I hate trying stuff on at stores, so I hate having to find 2 or 3 sizes to take to the dressing room.

Costco!! Just hold them up for size and returns are super easy!
My absolute favorite pair of pants and capris are from Costco. The only problem? I only bought 1. And as anyone knows, Costco is a now you see it, now you don't type store! So I've never been able to buy another pair and I'm wearing out the old ones 2 years later. Ugh.

I have a bag in my car to return to Costco. It's full of the size that didn't fit. I do hate having to double buy clothes and then return 1/2 of them.

I do not like shopping at all, ever. Purchases for myself are usually me walking by something, say hey, that's cute, and buying it. I don't really go looking for anything, jeans being the only exception. I like American Eagle jeans as they tend to fit me best. But I only buy when I catch them on sale. I will shop at Maurice's and Kohl's occasionally, like once a year or less.

I surely don't need any clothes for my retirement lifestyle but when I do buy I tend to look at Eddie Bauer as they have some really comfortable travel clothes.

i am not a clothes shopper. i have two kinds of clothes work clothes and comfy clothes. nothing in between which is hard when you are heading out to dinner. anyhow, i need to clothes shop, but i'm not going to.

I love Goodwill!!! I've picked up some amazing clothes for the girls there, for much less than some of the used children specific stores. I'm hoping once I drop another couple sizes I'll have better luck for myself!

If I can't them something from Goodwill, we hit up Target and Walmart. If a majority of the tops at Ross, Marshall's etc weren't dry clean, or hand wash only I'd go there more often. We have a store called Bealls that I go to from time to time when I remember them, I have picked up a couple pairs of really cute capri's and jeans for great prices.

There's also another Goodwill type store in the NW Valley called Epic, and was able to get the girls a TON of cute clothes, but they're pretty far, so I don't there unless we have other things to do while we're in the area. The building is HUGE, it was an old grocery store that closed down.

I really don't like clothes shopping either with the extra pounds I've gained over the past few years. I shop mainly at a couple of small local boutiques that carry brands I know have a generous sizing - French Dressing, Tribal, etc. Vanity definitely plays a part!!! :giggle
