    Absolutely - but sometimes you have to play a game to get it through.. My stepson well over 20 years ago now, had dyed his hair and the main bathroom had white fixtures. I noticed one day that the lid to the toilet seat had red smears on it and realized the red dye was coming off on his hands.. I decided, as I was getting frustrated from having to clean up again after cleaning the house, that i would try a different tactic then "yelling" as I don't like that approach as it never works anyway.

    I used post it notes. The top one said "Congratulations..." then the one underneath said "You have won..." then the one underneath said "the prize of cleaning the Bathroom!!" I attached it to the mirror.

    Well when he got up, I hear a laugh coming out of the bathroom, and my 15 year old stepson got the "aha" and cleaned up the mess. I didn't have an issue after that. LOL It was the curiosity and the humor that got him :)

    LOL!!! I've done things like that with my girls! They were less amused then, but laugh now.

    I'll have to do another update on what happens!

    My sil had this same problem. They had a rule that you were not allowed to come over AT ALL if the garage door was down. She said it worked great!

    @bbymks5 Timmi, I was thinking of you and this thread on Halloween night. Twice throughout the night kids would just open the door and walk into the foyer as I was reaching to open it. As a kid, I know I never opened anyone's door on Halloween, I would yell and pound on the door but would not open the door.

    Then, a bit later in the evening, it was winding down and not so many kids were coming, so my daughter and I were at the other end of the house and my hubs was in the LR so would hear any knocking or the doorbell (which I probably would have heard anyway). So after after 5 minutes or so, my daughter and I come walking down the hallway and I look into the foyer, the front door is completely opened and standing right inside the foyer is a boy about 8, just looking around. I have no idea if he helped himself to candy or not but since I didn't know, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him some. It kind of freaked me out that this kid was in my house and being so quiet about it so that my hubs didn't even know it either. What a nerve LOL.

    @bcgal00 *jaw dropped*

    That takes the cake right there!! Who in the world do these kids think they are?!!? My fight or flight would have kicked in and I would've went looking to see if others were had gotten in! Did he say anything?!!?

    I'm with you...I never ever would have thought to just go into someone else's house! Even when my friends parents knew I was coming and was told to just come in, I still knocked/rang the bell and waiting for the door to be answered!

    that. is. RIDICULOUS! I probably would have screamed.

    We've never had a child just open the door. I read your post to my DH and then I said that if we ever have kids just waltzing into our home, then it's the last year we give out candy.
