What is NaNoWriMo you may ask? Why, it is National Novel Writing Month, and it takes place each November. Millions take on the task of trying to trick their internal censors by writing a 50,000 word novel in a month. The idea is to get the words out of your system and into a document without editing or spending time worrying about whether the writing is "good enough." You just write. No excuses. There is always time to go back and edit later.

Please tell me I am not the only writer here. Not the only crazy person who tries to eek out 50,000 words of a novel in the month of November. Anyone?

It starts this Sunday. Are you ready? If you don't write, do you know anyone who participates in this?
 
I've only heard a little about this. I'm not a writer lately, but this would fit in with another area I'm working. It might help to write it as a novel. I'll think on it.
 
I did it years ago...loved it..was such a fun time, my 4 big kids did it too...great stories and laughter
 
I have a friend that is a writer/editor type person and I believe she has several books "in the works" that she is hoping to complete. I will have to ask her if she's planning to participate this year. :)
 
I have always been wanting to write. And I've seen this come by several years before but I was always too late. Maybe I should give it a try this year? I don't really have an awesome idea to start with though..
 
i only just heard about it last year, from you! i guess that means i'm not a writer. although it was my fave/best subject in HS and i do really well on essay exams. i think i have a knack for writing but it's not one of my hobbies or passions. i could see myself giving this a try one day in the future, but just have too much going on currently. very cool idea though and ... i know this is one of your passions and you are very good at it. good luck to you & all who give it a go!!! :)

If you go to the website Nanowrimo.org, you can sign up and in the forums, people leave ideas that they don't want/aren't going to use. It is kind of fun to look through them and see what comes up. I know for me, sometimes just looking at those, will trigger an idea of my own.

Thanks. LOL. I guess I am at the age where I'm repeating myself. :giggle

I always try to rope other people in so I don't suffer through alone. :) You should give it a try some year.
 
I think I'm going to go for it. Need to read a little bit more about it, but seems like a good thing to try.
 
I signed up. I have an idea which has a lot of outlines that are clear to me. I kinda sneakily already wrote a little bit today.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to write 50k in a month. I'm pretty sure my story needs more then 50k though. We'll see. :)

I am so excited!! (and scared too..)

Yesterday I wrote 3411 words. Today I wrote 447. But it's writing and a little bit at a time is still something.
I knew that Mondays and Tuesdays would be the worst writing days, because I have to work those full days. On Tuesday I get out of the house at 7.30 am and get home at 9.30 pm and tomorrow I'll even have a staff meeting so I might not even get to write at all.
But my plan is to write at least a little bit every day. We'll see how it goes.
 
I got a couple hundred words yesterday. Sundays are worse because hubby is home and it just does not create a conducive atmosphere. Then I read a bit of one of the books to try to get a better grasp of how I want to go. Great Job Bernie!
