...is up & running, my friend came over we opened it and not only he got me networked, which means for the time being I am still able to scrap, but also he formatted an EHD which I thought was useless, so on that side of things I am happy....

Now... (there is always a now with us LOL) I know I will get used to it, I know I'll probably love it at some point....but I do NOT like the mouse, the keyboard is too small and I hate that the thingy in the bottom has a grey stripe and is not transparent like my other one :( the icons are a bit...don't know, not as elegant.
The worse is the mouse as is heavy and difficult to scroll and is not obeying my right click for editing spelling OR copying and pasting...but that maybe because I am now on Safari instead of Firefox...so it will take me a while to work out what to do, and I need to move things around but I was able to scrap a page in the old one and post here with the new, so that is a step ahead!!!!

I also had that famed bronchoscopy they have wanted me to have since last year, and waiting on results...I didn't get a call today (yesterday was bank holiday here) so I take that as a good sign.... I reckon they would have called me if there was something alarming...but on the other hand....it can mean I will need to keep on moving around clinics, well anyway, I m happy that I will be able to stay online a bit longer now , just wish me luck to be able to get use to the new keyboard & mouse!!! <3

Yea for a new computer! Boo for the issues new computers always bring. Is your old mouse not working? I am so rough on my mouse, and it's always a bummer when I have to find, and then adjust to, a new one.
I'll cross my fingers that the results are good!

Oh Cynthia! Congratulations on the computer, you'll get used to it. It took me a while to get used to my laptop being black rather than silver. I got over it. The bronchoscopy is a wait & see, but at least you finally got it done!!!

Oh, you will love the iMac over time. Congrats! Yes, we must make adjustments from what we are used you *cough*, but once you are over the hump, I think you'll comet to appreciate the differences.

I am in the Apple minority in not loving Safari. I still use Chrome on all of my macs (and you can still use firefox if you want). AND if it's the scrolling thing on the mouse, that drove me NUTS... I totally changed it back to scroll the "old way". It's more configurable than you would think. Not sure about the bottom thingie... but mine doesn't really take up enough room to bother me. And I LOVE the big screen on the iMac as opposed to the Macbook. I'm spoiled now.

Yay for being set up and able to stay online more! That's awesome that you are up and running. I recently moved my dock over to the left side instead of the bottom because I kept hitting applications and opening them by accident. It's the "Dock" in System Preferences. Maybe moving it out of the way or changing the size will make it better? The mouse comes configured to be pretty slow as I recall. I really notice it when I use a different computer in the house. If it's a speed thing, where you feel like the scroll is slow, you can speed that up. Jen's right, there's lots of options to configure the mouse to make it better for you/what feels right. So definitely go into System Preferences and play with the settings. Keeping fingers crossed for a "good news" call back from the Dr.

Cool beans on the new 'puter. I always hated using my parent's Mac's mouse. It's quite cumbersome and heavy. Enjoy it!

thank s girls!!!! yes, I figure I ll get used to it... @jenevang , I may ask for some directions on to how to configure...the one thing I like about this mouse is that is wireless, and the screen even though a bit different than my old iMac, is really something..... I ll take some photos for you to see, my bedside desk now looks like something out of star trek with the two iMacs LOL
I also think I ll get Firefox, I git used to the whole way it works, and have never been much of a Safari fan, but have to admit the downloading is easier in Safari now... in Firefox I still need to get rid of the zip files from the downloads folder, Safari sends them to the bin....
I'm quiet beaten right now as I had very little sleep last night and had to re design my bedroom for the computers, on top we just watched American Snipper and I am so sad... so I ll get some sleep and come back tomorrow... Hugggzzz!!!!

I hated the mouse too and never used it. I got the magic trackpad. The link goes to a newer version than the one I have, which doesn't seem to be available on the Apple website anymore. Maybe it is in the store. I know I didn't pay $129 for it, as the new one costs. More like $65. Anyway, it's SO easy to swipe, scroll, and pinch for various tasks with this trackpad. Right clicking is simply a light tap with two fingers. I love it!

Strangely, my kids don't like the trackpad. I got them a wireless mouse from Office Depot for $15 and it works just fine with my Mac.

    Good luck!

sooooooo I'm very happy that I can stay online longer, the pages load in a second the scrolling is so fast and I can access my Sky Go to watch stuff and a number of other things... I'm a bit worried now as I am not able to talk to the other computer to transfer files (we did set it up ad it was there showing yesterday) but I am determined not to let it upset me.... so I ll go try find a way around to scrap!!!! let me tell you, the new BYOC??????? you are going to LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad that you have the new computer up and running. You'll have it all setup to your liking in no time and then you'll be able to cruise online and with scrapping and this hassle of getting it all set up will be worth it!

Change is always hard, Cynthia, but I'm guessing you are going to love it when it's all said and done. I'm betting you've already noticed how much more vibrant your beautiful layouts look!

When I first got my iMac it took me several days to get used to it. I didn't know if I would end up liking it or not. But now I'd never go back to a PC willingly. Macs are just so much better. And I love the mouse, too. I wore my first one out and had to get a new one. Hang in there. I hope it gets easier for you soon.

Oh, I am so happy your new computer has finally arrived!!!

About your mouse woes- is it configured for right-click? The settings for the secondary click might not be turned on. Let me know if you need help, and I'll be glad to walk you through it!

My iMac says Hello to yours! I love mine (it's my 2nd one) and I don't quite understand about the mouse being heavy. I never lift it but slide it around my wooden desktop. What I also do is periodically, like once a week, take my fingernail and scrape the two black 'rubberized' lines on the underbelly.

Configuring the mouse is under the icon System Preferences, Mouse. I've never added more gestures to mine but I do use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. I've grown to really appreciate the smaller keyboard but especially the easy touch. I thought I'd miss the 'calculator' bit on the right but I don't know why. It's not like I do a lot of calculations or spreadsheets!

I used to use Firefox but ran into so many issues with it that I went back to Safari. I haven't had any issue in over a year so that's probably it for me. My husband used Chrome but then he has to work with a PC also for work and it's just easier for him to have one constant. Me? I don't care for it but I know I'd get used to it if I had to... :(

And most importantly, may your test results be good and your health get only better! <3

I just got the 27" iMac and I agree about the keyboard, but I've adjusted to it and the mouse by playing around with the settings in the system preferences. I also made the scroll faster. I use Chrome instead of Safari and I like it - althoug I don't like the invasiveness of Google products in generaly.

You can move the dock to the right, to the left, and to the bottom. You can make it bigger or smaller, genie effect for applications to close, and you can also make the dock completely invisible by hiding it. I find it the best on the left, and I make it as small as I can to be able to see the icons clearly.

Here's my desktop with the dock on the left and very small.
