I love the adventure of moving. New friends to meet, unpacking boxes making everything seem new again. The cleansing out of just 'stuff' when packing up the boxes.

/rant But I hate packing the boxes. Ugh. And I hate how stuff that fit in my space now feels huge and looming! Like, where did it all come from? How do we have this many things?

And I hate finding a box for those small awkward things that just don't fit right.

Sigh.

Definitely not my favorite thing to do. We're trying to do some de-cluttering before the need to move comes up. Just remember it will be more fun unpacking and remembering how much trouble it was to put in the box and how easily it comes out.

I think that maybe my family needs to move just so we will get rid of some of our stuff! Lol! We've lived in our current house for almost 14 years and don't plan to ever move. We have lots of storage space, so we use it because it's there. Yikes!

I do agree with you though Courtney... I love the unpacking part. It's a chance to reorganize everything in a new place! Good luck!

I've been there more times than I care to count - I totally feel your pain! The packing / moving process is not for the faint of heart! Hang in there--- it does eventually get to the good stuff! :yesss

Packing is the worst....having done it twice in two months, I understand the pain

weirdo alert!!

I love to move!
so much that every couple of months, we move rooms just to clear the crapola out!

I am weird.
You are not weird Anne.. I love to move too! Not items in the house, I like to pack up and MOVE to a new location :) That hasn't happened though for 17 years !

I love to move too! I don't like packing but I like unpacking and organizing and having things all new and fresh for a bit. It is super stressful though. :/ I hope you get settled soon!

The last time I moved was in 1995. LOL

I've helped other people move, but that was mostly the fun part, unboxing and loading cabinets, organizing and such.

I do try to clean out on a regular basis, organizing and making sure systems are working for our family instead of against us.

I used to move every two+ years and as we were government all the packing was done for us and done very well - the moves that were packed up overseas i.e. But the boxes and the stuff...there were boxes that went country to country -unopened until my xh and I divorced! With those kinds of moves, it was always a challenge to find 'the right' or the best place of a lot of kitchen stuff etc. But there were also times we had months before our stuff arrived or we were in the US for months between countries, and it was like Christmas when things appeared again for my children!

I have been truly impressed and somewhat dismayed at my son's recent move. He told his family he wanted ALL the boxes unpacked and put away in the weekend after their stuff arrived. (I suspect he may have remembered the boxes I mention above...country to country and just sitting unopened)! Did I scar him for life...:hummm) My DIL said they got it all done - having teenagers with their own rooms certainly helps.

In my constant project of trying to clear out more and more, it's the business of gathering all the 'x' or 'y's to one spot. I am actually using old cat food cardboard box 'trays' or xerox paper lids to do my sorting. After almost 30 years in this house and getting my dh's cra..stuff 15 years ago, thank god we aren't moving any time soon!

Me too. I do enjoy the end process.

I am weird too. I really do enjoy moving, I blame it on my childhood. I'd lived in something like 15 different houses before I was 14? I have to figure it out at some point. I call it "Itchy Feet". After about 2 years in a place, I'm ready for something new. Except the packing part. LOL.

This made me think of "The Incredibles". Where she calls him up at work to announce they are finally moved in because the last boxes are finally unpacked.

I don't envy you at all. I keep trying to get rid of stuff just in case we ever move again, but no one here wants to part with anything.

Good luck on your new adventure.

It looks like you already put a dent in the packing! I hope the move goes well, and you all settle in nicely! I'm done moving. lol. We moved 3 miles from where we used to be about 3 years ago. I am not ready to do that again, thankfully, I don't think we will for a long time!

We are facing our 12th move and 7th state coming up. I'm lucky because hubby's company pays for the packers and movers. I don't have to do much. Just make sure stuff that needs to stay with us doesn't get packed, and stuff that belongs to the landlords doesn't get packed or put on the truck. If we had to do all the packing/moving ourselves, hubby would be going by himself!

I've been totally out of it Courtney @bestcee ... where are you guys moving? What's going on????? Everything looks so clean and organized. I'm a messy mover.

I love the decluttering that goes with moving. I do not like the process of moving, though! We're going to have to move in about a year and a half for residency (we have no idea WHERE yet, just a firm idea of when), and I've already started the purging process so that hopefully it won't be such a headache when the time finally arrives.

When we move, I'm going to have to move a whole business along with our stuff. That's four big laser cutters, a shop full of stock, and other various tools and equipment. It'll probably take a whole moving truck of its own!

We are moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. After moving so many times, I insist on organization. And the pretty scrapbook paper labels make it more fun to pack!

I'm so glad not to be moving a business! We had 7 boxes of toys. 7! And that was after getting rid of half munchkins toys! I do not envy you moving for residency.
