What do you have going on this week? For those in the US, it is sort of the last gasp of summer (pre-Labor Day weekend). Do other countries have the same sort of last-bit-of-August signalling the slide into Fall?

Does everyone have a busy week ahead? Anything exciting?

I've been fairly sick off and on lately and am trying to pull myself together to get through this crazy week. We're tiling our downstairs bathroom floor (or will be this week). We're refinancing our house and an appraiser is coming next week, so this needs to get done because the bathroom has been in shambles for nearly a year (my hubby isn't always the best about finishing projects). I'm glad that we finally have the reason/drive to get it done. We bought that newer tile that looks like wood. I love it. We'll eventually run it into the shower to replace the old tile there, but not this week. LOL. I will probably have to pay my brother to do that (he's a professional tiler).

My daughter is starting a second full-time job today. Ugh. She's really excited, so I'm happy about that, but dreading the inevitable craziness it will place on everyone. She got offered a position as a pastry chef at a brand new restaurant. Zagat wrote it up as one of the upcoming "restaurants to watch" so she's thrilled. She'll be leaving here at 4 in the morning, working there from 5-1 and then commuting to her other full-time job at the casino where she'll work until 10 pm and get home around 11. I honestly don't know how she's going to do it. She really wants the title and experience of being a pastry chef. Currently, she's a "baker" instead of a pastry chef, so this will have the potential of opening up future doors (she hopes). She can't leave the casino at this point because the new restaurant will not offer any medical benefits, and the pay is less. So she's hoping with 2 jobs, she'll be able to pay off her car quickly and then save tons of money so she can buy a house. We'll see how it goes. And if it doesn't work out, at least she's tried.

What's going on with you??

This week is busy for the others in the family. I get to escape it. Zane who lives in Seattle has to move and has finally found a place. So Will and Jim will go over to help him move. With all guys they can bunk in together or actually Will is staying at a friends. I've been trying to get a day away but it seems like all the last minute school stuff took up my days. Now I won't have a car for a couple of days. So guess I'll keep scrapping and hopefully re-organizing my room.

Last week of babysitting everyday for my daughter. She loves the money but is glad it is almost over. Some of her school classes started last week, so she has work to do too. My husband and oldest son are going to Dragon Con in Atlanta this weekend, so it is "girl weekend" at our house! Okay, 2nd son will be around but we are ignoring him since his girl friend will be occupying his time. Not sure what we are doing yet, but I think it involves sleep overs and maybe a cupcake bar and Doritos and maybe the lake beach.

I am ignoring the annoyance things like the van breaking, the fridge leaking, and the pantry moths and fruit flies - and the ornery cat who keeps peeing on things like the new rug. yeah

Yep, preppin' for a new school year here as well; My daughter is a Senior this year!!! Eeeeeks!

Otherwise, workin' during the day and pulling off my photography business after I leave the office... this seems to be the just of my world lately as it's Senior Session Season. Crazy busy, but thoroughly enjoying some "me" time with a work out in between. :-)

Wow I don't know how you do it, but it sounds organized. Your posts always bring a smile to my face. Happy Birthday to the girls.

snort oh @carilyne I carry my bullet journal everywhere...people stare it like it is a dinosaur as I pull it out of my huge handbag (think diaper bag for teens and no fear boys). But without it, I am flopping around like a fish out of water...EVERYthing goes in that book!

See did it again, even a laugh. Dinosaur bag? I know what you mean. I bet you couldn't get by without it because Mom's have to remember everything. Bullet journal, what a good idea. Thanks for sharing that tip. Good luck this week!

First week back at work with students...need I say more? LOL But, we have a 4 day weekend for Labor Day and no football stuff going on for DS. It will be Heaven!!

My daughter just started her third week of school and my son is on his last week of summer break. He's a counselor at the School of Rock Green Day camp during the day this week and goes to his summer job after that (he's working for the company that provides uniforms for the school my daughter previously attended). I think today I've pretty much caught up on all of the surprise stuff from Clara starting school and have the before school stuff for my son under control. Just waiting for the school supply shopping next week after he starts.

We ALWAYS go to our place in Michigan for Labor Day, but, alas, we won't be going this year. Clara cheers and the varsity game got moved to Saturday at 12:30. It's all good (just different, I keep telling myself that). My kids go to different schools (one public, one private Catholic) but they're just about a block from each other. And my daughter's school's home football stadium is the one at my son's school. This weekend, Alex's school has a big Labor Day carnival that we always miss. This year, Clara is trying to get a bunch of school friends together to go to the game and then to the carnival after since they'll be right there. Sunday we told them that we can finally use our Six Flags season tickets and they can bring friends (Alex got mono right at the end of school and wasn't able to ride rides until his spleen was back to normal... so we haven't used the tickets... a bit of a waste, sadly, but what can you do?). Monday we'll just get ready to start the week.

We got back yesterday from driving my daughter in her car (and another car for more stuff) back to Ohio. Stayed a couple days and then drove back with the empty car! Today I went back to work at my easy peasy Continuing Education Job and it was utter chaos! Not Easy Peasy today. New students who didn't know what they were doing, one student in my room, finally realized that she was in the wrong classroom! Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I am really looking forward to some warmer and hopefully healthier seasons (Spring on thursday - yay!)
Today I was about to drive my eldest to the Dr to see about either allergies or conjunctivitis, when I got a call from the school nurse for my youngest. Yep, he was a lovely pale green colour, and made it home before he vomited...

Nothing major, but just annoyingly persistent illnesses through all our family this winter. Want just one week where we are all fit.

Same old same old mostly, a bit of added stress with more traffic and more folks pushing together on the train with all the schools starting this week.

My boys started school yesterday. The law in Michigan is that schools start the day after Labor Day, but since we go to a parochial school, we can do what we want. :giggle It'll be nice to get out a week before everyone else, but it really snuck up on me. Everyone had a great first day, but I know they are going to be tired by the end of the week as they are used to staying up late and sleeping in a bit.

We also started another soccer team for my oldest last night and when they handed me the schedule I freaked out a bit. They practice or have a game every day from now until the end of October. That's okay, but the times start at 5:00 or later, not after school like I expected. He's also on a AYSO team that he loves, but the times are all the same. I have to get everything in the calendar to see if he can even do both teams. He really wants to stay on both teams, but I don't wanna short change either team. So... yeah, summer is officially over and we are busy!!!

We have a pretty low key week. School & volleyball. Next week we'll have the holiday and then a day off to take the kids to Dollywood one last time before the craziness. Then the week after that is back to full fledged schedule...school, volleyball, co-op, piano lesson & gymnastics.

Oh my goodness, Kimberlee! Your daughter is going to be so exhausted! But good for her for following her dreams and putting in the work to make them happen! Best wishes to her!

You are going to LOVE your bathroom when it is finished! We put the wood tile in our kitchen a few years ago, and I love it! We are the same way with projects- we get them started, and then it takes something big (like moving!) to get them finished. I told Darren that when he's out of medical school that we are going to live in a house that is not an ongoing project!!

This week I'm busy cutting a bunch of orders that came in last week, and I'm also getting started on this year's Holiday Grand Plan. If you've not heard of that, it's a huge, several-months-long combination of deep fall cleaning and Thanksgiving/Christmas prep. I've started it many times in years past and not finished it, but even the little bit that I've managed to get done has really helped. I'm hoping to get through the entire thing this year and declutter the house in the process.

I'm also getting started on this year's Holiday Grand Plan.

Okay... I just checked that out and I think I'm going to do it!! Thanks for posting it! I like that it's not just about getting the Christmas stuff done, but the house stuff that comes with it done too. We have so many little house things that are "almost" done, that I just need that push to finish up. I usually feel that push about a week before we're hosting everyone for some holiday function and that is definitely not the time to tackle it, so it gets pushed off. A week at a time is hopefully something I can handle. And I had already been thinking about starting shopping, especially since our kids are teens and totally in the gift card phase. Those are so easy to pick up now without worrying about if they'll still want them in four months.

Well, if I had read this Monday I would have had different ideas. Tuesday I went to visit my daughter and take a late birthday present to my granddaughter. Silly me thought it might be cooler than the prior week. Ok maybe two or three degrees better! All in all it was a good visit and my daughter took ME out to lunch. While I hated for her to spend that kind of money, I know it made her feel good to be able to do it ...really for the first time in her 40+ years. I'm really happy for her and all she's achieved in the last two or so years. Despite the heat, I decided to take myself across to Assateague Island which is just 9 miles from her home. I did see some of the horses but gawdalmighty it was hot there and I only got out of the car for a couple of photos.

On the drive home (2.5 hours each way) I got my first PSL iced of course and with caffeine for a change to keep my from nodding off.I even then stopped at the outlets and got an army green vest for winter. Not sure if I'll keep it but I got a $20 coupon for a $100 purchase so I am dragging dh back there tomorrow to check out winter waterproof jackets for a winter trip we're taking in December.

But before the outlets, i all be back at the dentist because the temp crown that I had replaced two weeks ago came off this am. So surprise surprise...another morning at the dentist god willing as he's on his way to Alaska this weekend. Finally, I believe I will be celebrating my birthday by watching Cheryl discuss Lightroom. Sounds good to me! Depending on what goes on at the dentist will determine if we go out to dinner/lunch this weekend. Otherwise, just a quiet weekend as usual but with 4 new books from the library!

btw, that "Holiday Grand Plan" sounds like the plan The Fly Lady had to prepare for the holidays. I always think I'll do it but quite often i didn't know til about late September that my dh wanted to go somewhere for the holidays. He's not a fan and I gave in this year so my prep will be minimal. At least that gives me more time to concentrate on the clearing out. Halloween stuff is getting The BIG Purge next week!
