I didn't see this question right off & frankly don't have the time to read every post in the MOC Q&A thread. I don't see anywhere that says where we post our credits? I posted mine with my upload to the gallery and included them in the thread of the day I posted. Is this the correct way to do it?
You only need to post the credit when you upload your layout to the gallery. When you post your layout in the individual layouts thread and the challenge threads you can use the handy links in the gallery and that will direct people back to your layout in the gallery and people can see your credits there. The handy links I'm talking about are on the right side of your layout in the gallery. There is a section called "SHARE THIS LAYOUT" and under that there are a bunch of options. I use the 3rd one done. Just click in the box under Share BB "IMG" Code: and copy and paste that whole text string into a forum thread. That will show the picture of your layout and it will be linked back to your gallery post.
Quick question: If we create pages for a designer, can we submit them as MOC entries? In other words, can I create my January CT pages with MOC challenges in mind?
I sure hope so!! lol, as long as it is a new page and from the LIly Pad designers...I think it is also a great way to enable the designers. The first year I did the MOC, I was on Pink Reptile and LMs, and that is what most of my pages were, until I collapsed and had to go crazy in the store!
anyone else think the rules should change, with 300+ people playing. at 20 bucks a person, seems that would strain the resources here, 31 winners seem more logical
Well, all 300+ people will first have to finish all 31 pages on time, and that's another story if you ask me! LOL
that is the truth, and this is the hardest part for Julie, she puts so much into this yearly challenge. She has to check each of your individual threads. (that is why it is so uber important for you to make them correctly). I don't think you can put a price on the amazing feeling that is going on here at the Lily Pad. The Gift Certificate to me was a small incentive. I was looking at the POLLY prize like a mad woman, and I wanted to get out of a scrapping rut and challenging myself 31 days in a row is a good way to do that!
I agree with Chloe, first of all, that it's unlikely even half will finish all 31 pages. Also, since it's digital product, not physical, I don't think the number of people who earn the 20 bucks makes a difference.
It does take time to generate every single gift certificate, not to mention doing all the tallies, making sure each LO meets the requirements, etc. but they wouldn't offer to do it if they didn't think it was worth it. It's the 4th year, so they know what's involved by now. It's not just about prizes, but also about mojo and community and this awesome thing we all share together. I love it!
Do I need to sign up for MOC or is starting my thread (with at least one challenge completed) all I need to do? I haven't participated in the past -- usually I find out too late but somehow this year I checked in early enough to join in!
Thanks for the sentiments guys! After 4 years, we do know what's coming when we put MOC on, and while the product is digital, the cost is the same as if the prize was physical product ($20 is $20, after all! ). However, Laura and the designers all feel that the cost and work involved in MOC each year is offset by the growth we see in the community here, and frankly, you can't put a price on how much MOC encourages our members to get out of their comfort zone and get their memories recorded! It's a great feeling to see the gallery explode with these fabulous pages, and we truly love how many members decide to speak up and join in the forums during MOC! As for the tallying - I will post a "Now what happens??" post at the end of MOC, but in short form, I do go through each individual layout thread and confirm that everyone has actually completed all 31 pages and that they are compliant. This takes a while. In the last 4 years, we've ranged from 125-150 finishers. So I do ask that you be patient After that, the finishers will get additional instructions on how their coupon will be sent to them. It's definitely a process, but again, worth it to see all these new faces at TLP!!
We're excited to see all of these new faces and to have so much enthusiastic participation. We, of course, will honor the $20 per FINISHER. That's a fun part of MOC, after all! I do want to be clear that this is a REAL $20. I pay for this, as do the designers. Just like you pay for products here with real money, we also have to cover the costs of those gift certificates that are issued. We do it gladly because MOC is an amazing month here at the Pad and it's worth it!
In the case of the January 4: Photoless Challenge (Style Challenge), does it have to be 12x12 inches or can it be the size of a Facebook header for example?
