Happy National Mason Jar Day!

Who knew there was such a thing?!

Tell me if you use mason jars or not and how.

Ready? Go!

I use them every day for my overnight oats breakfast.
I also use them for canning my jalapenos every year.
And I use them for crafty things from time to time!
I love Mason Jars :)

Mostly I have been using them to store leftovers since around 2006. But I've also made jam a time or two. I think I used one as a cup for pens for a while long ago when I used such tools often. I've put water in them to keep basil or green onions fresh. And my oldest kid uses the huge jars as water bottles in our house.

I’m from Indiana, we use Ball Jars! :) Ball Corp. was one of only a very few manufacturers (like 4 total?) who paid royalties to Mr. Mason.

I usually freeze leftovers in mine. Or I get on a kick in summer and make a big batch of Pickles or spicy hot Dilly Beans.

When I was still working, I would put all the makings of a salad in them to take to work for lunch. Most articles about it say to put the dressing as the bottom layer then layer the various ingredients you want in your salad with the lettuce being the top layer. I put everything but the dressing in my jar. Then I would just shake it all up, put it in a bowl and add the dressing.

Mom used to use them to can tomatoes because Dad's tomato plants had too many tomatoes for us to eat! Even when he cut back on the number of plants, we had too many tomatoes. Someone gave Mom a recipe on how to can them using the oven instead of a pressure cooker.

I use a Mason jar for spare change, and that's about it.

I love the look of Mason jars for crafty storage: a jar full of buttons is so cute and charming.

For new users of. Its the lid, that holds the smell, when younger, i would put saran wrap on the clean jar to store, then had the lids in little plastic bags that 3 1/2 inch disks came in, using a note from note cube holder, naming what smell lid had. Like brown sugar, chocolate, onion etc, filed in a xmas slipper box like a index box

I love that you use them every day and love them! I’m supposed to use them every day for my chia pudding but I keep forgetting to make it so thanks for the reminder!

I haven’t tried them for leftovers. Thanks for the idea!

My mom prefers Ball jars for her canning. I’ve made pickles in them too! Dilly Beans…I haven’t had those for a looooooong time!

I’ve wanted to try the jar salads but never have. I’ve canned tomatoes though!

I agree that the lids hold the smells. That’s smart to label them.

That’s a nice long list! I’m glad you’re putting them to good use.

My daughter just made a jar into her jewelry storage. It turned out so cute! The only problem is that I have to untangle her necklace every morning haha

Yes! I love Mason Jars. There are cool lids you can buy for them from stores that increase their usefulness too.

Homemade pancake syrup - with a pour spout!
Dish Soap - with a soap spout
Foam Soap - with a foam spout
Glasses (For drinking)
Storing foods
Salads (it really does last better!)
Cleaner - with a spray lid
Oil pourer
Canning

They are quite the workhorse, and they last really well!
