Welcome to Lynn’s May 2026 challenge. This month we are looking back on and creating a layout about our family history. It’s largely about a small story that sheds light on your family or an individual ancestor. Please choose one that allows you to include at least one photo.

What are some interesting things about that person? What were they like? Where did they live? What career? How many, if any, spouses and children, if any. Any special interaction you had with him or her. Just make that person come alive to us, the audience.

Your layout must include both journaling (at least 5 sentences) and at least one photo.

Here is an example of an unsolved mystery regarding my own maternal grandfather along with a photo of him and of a newspaper clipping.

Thank you for a fun time of smiling and thinking of this story. Told by so many! the laughter of her having her thumb tied so she would not put in her mouth, makes me laugh over and over

I created a layout about my ex-husband's Aunt Elisabeth. I used her words and mine. I photographed her story as she had typed it from 2008, her stationery & handwriting from 2009, and grabbed the photo published with her obituary. We had a connection that was special to both of us. I admired her for so many reasons.
