My grandma, Vincenza was a sassy woman. She said the funniest things. My cousin got married and lived in the apartment below her, she knocks on the door and asked her straight up "why you no pregganie yet? what do you do at night? Sleep?" Hilarious. She saw the UPS truck for the first time, and declared it was the "uppa you S" truck" Oh boy! Italians don't hold back. My mom was in high school and a boy gave her a ride home on a motorcycle! She chased her around the house, beating her with a broom because only ladies of ill repute ride on motorcycles. She used a harsher word. Honestly, I never heard her swear, maybe once and she most likely didn't realize it was a bad word in English. We were looking at clothes at Bloomingdales and she told me: "no buy this, it's cheap sh@t!" AT Bloomingdales, no less! I think of that and love her even more. I can say with confidence that if she ever saw the Sopranos, she would say nothing but bad things. Such language!
Just love to read the journalling and what a great story to keep and made just a awesome page of it. Love the blending, the picture and the little bird on top...just like he's listening to the story you are telling!

What a fabulous layout and such wonderful journaling. Your grandma was quite a colorful character and those memories made me laugh out loud. I like your photo with the torn edges as though it had been ripped apart and you were piecing it back together. And those clothes and hats in the photo -- oh, my, they did know how to dress well, didn't they?
Thanks for participating in Lynn's May Family History challenge.

What a beautiful layout. I love everything about it. She must have been quite the character.

oh my Val.. this is PERFECTION!!!! I LOVE this heritage photo of your Grandmother and family.. She sounds like a hoot.. yup our Grandmothers worked hard and were tough broads that when they spoke you listened and respected.. LOL I giggled reading not only your journaling on your page, but also with your credits. My Mom told me her Mom had the switch and they would have to run to out run her with the switch... (Growing up just the "LOOK" was enough for me LOL) I adore your page Val, and I am thinking this is one of my very favorite of yours... (I like all your pages, but this one hit the top of the bar!!!) Your page is a perfect example of why we scrap our photos.. to keep the stories alive.

Congratulations, your page is a Froggy Favorite for May! TFS!

I really love that you journaled about who was in the photo, and what the photo means to you. It gives it context and will make the layout meaningful to those who look at it in the future. The clock element, brush and bird are great and bookend the photo

This layout is absolutely stunning, the journaling adds so much depth and emotion to the page. Everything comes together beautifully!

Oh my goodness! My (great) grandmother was a seamstress too! She had her shop in the upstairs of her home, with a sign in her window. Her daughter (my maternal GM) sewed garments by hand- needle in hand. My Mother taught me to sew at about age 12. What you said is special- this is a legacy! The photos add life to your words.
