Losing Courage...updated

I AM SO SORRY! hugs & prayers to you all for wisdom & comfort. I remember having to come home from college to put my pup(8 yrs old) down when he got prostate cancer. Heartbreaking.

Oh my. That sure is a lot to take in at the same time as relocating. I'm so sorry!

thank you guys for all the support....
We spent a couple hours visiting Courage and Angel today. Courage was very clingy to us... I got a chance to feel the lumps, and they are truly frightening. He has really only been away from us for a couple of months and at Mishou's (my MIL) for just a few weeks. These lumps have come up fast. He has a really large one near his groin... and SEVERAL in his throat. I felt 5 or 6.

The vet is sending us an estimate for a couple of rounds of chemo. She said they have had success with it, and it could possible shrink his tumors to give him more time. He seemed to feel pretty good. His tail wagged the whole time. He really wanted to come with us though. We'll get to bring him to Texas next weekend, but in trade (since we can only have two), we have to send Sadie to stay with Mishou instead. I really wish we could get our landlord to give us an exception to have Courage here for a while. He could only have a few weeks, unless hopefully, chemo works to buy us as much as a year, which is our best case scenerio.

On another note, I think we are never going to be done moving. *sigh

Just a photo of him resting while we were visiting. He is such a sweet boy. I've never met a dog as nice as he is in all my years of working with animals.

Aww, I'm so sorry Kat. Glad you were able to soak up some time with him this weekend! I know how difficult it is to process the loss of a pet--who is really family-- like this. ((hugs)) I hope you do get to spend a little extra time together as a family.
