LOVE OUR DESIGNERS | Day 19 Allison Pennington is our daily crush! This event isn't a traditional CHALLENGE in that there aren't any real rules. It’s a fun event to scrap with products from a fave designer or try a new (to you) designer. It’s all about having fun and celebrating the uniqueness of all of our Lilypad Designers! Allison is having a 30% off storewide sale, plus buy more, save more discounts: Spend $15 Save 35% | Spend $25 Save 40% | Spend $35 Save 45% {click the add to visit Allison's store} TLP Store:https://the-lilypad.com/store/Allison-Pennington/ Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/the_allisonpennington/ So we can get to know you a bit better, tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into scrapbook designing. It happened fairly organically. I had a reasonably successful custom printable business (invitations, announcements, etc) for a few years that was kind of very early digital scrapbooking - I just didn't have the language for it at the time. I shut down to go to work at a "real" job doing production design for a garment decorator. Life changed (as it does!) and I needed to be home more. I answered a digital designer call and kind of crossed my fingers. I got a spot and here we are. My first collections were awful - it's a miracle I ended up at TLP! What inspires you in your creative process? Has it changed over time? It's totally changed! I used to have a much more dignified creative process but now it usually starts with some random thought or pun or joke, whatever. They usually strike when I'm falling asleep. The notes on my phone are a mess of unformed ideas. Last year, as I was drifting off, the thought crossed my mind that I could do a beachy Halloween collection (black palm trees??) and call it Maliboo. (I didn't do it) I've gotten better at letting myself release silly random stuff for absolutely no reason. I used to struggle with releasing things that weren't a full collection but I'm getting better. I've been working on a collection for *two months* (oops) that started with an idea for a word strip. Maybe it'll get done eventually. What are your favorite products you’ve created and why? From the last year, I'd say Fable and This is Me. They both came together exactly how I planned and that never happens. Overall, I LOVE Halloween collections. I look forward to them all year. They're never best sellers (ha!) but I enjoy making them anyways. What's your design space like? OMG. It's chaos at the moment. There are post-its everywhere. My mail sorter is... not sorted. There's also about a dozen various hand butters and balms (I could talk to you about my favorite hand products all day). Our schedules are crazy right now so tidying is low on the priority list. Half of my desk is taken up by this weirdo. She's not a great coworker. And here are a few of my favorite pages featuring Allison's products!
I’ve had people here visiting all day unexpectedly, so I haven’t gotten to scrap yet! I think @AllisonPennington knows how much I adore her kits! They are always staples in my collection & the patterns are some of the BEST! I’ll scrap either after kiddos sleep or first thing tomorrow!!
must admit i LOL'd at the Maliboo idea - it's funny in a cute and unique off-the wall idea way anyway - i'm sure someone somewhere has halloween parties on the beach anyhoo, i'm glad i got a chance to play along today - this is with Allison's Backyard Adventures mashed with her Storytime (and a FDD template)
I absolutely love Allison’s kits but particularly her Alphas - they’re an absolute staple in my stash
Thanks for hosting, Sheri! I love all of Allison's goodies.. Her MPM Foundation Add Ons are one of my favorites... Love her papers, stitches and everything.
