Today we are going to feature and scrap with Kim Jensen Designs. If you’re not familiar with Kim's products, check out her store here. Kim's designs are highly versatile and enjoyed by artists of many different styles, as you can see from her designer gallery, which shows pages using her products.

Her recent Winterly Bundle is a bright and happy winter collection that also coordinates with the December 2021 BYOC. This bundle serves as an example of how Kim brilliantly creates entire collections that work cohesively providing everything from artsy bits to textural 3D elements and numerous alphas and papers to fulfill the needs for different types of projects.

You can see in "Cozy" by garrynkim how Kim's designs can be used for a more artsy blended style. I love the cool "out of bounds" framing here!

while "Chilly Kids!" by michele hillam shows off a pieced style, with the fun photo extraction!

For Love Our Designers today, I chose to use Kim Jensen's Emerson Bundle because I love the rich colors and doodle flowers!

FYI the cool template background above is a freebie in her store left from a previous template challenge. Kim's CT hosts a monthly challenge in the designer challenge thread. Here's the link to Kim's February challenge. Kim offers generous prizes each month! There are two $10 winners, and all other participants get a 20% off coupon.

I had the opportunity to interview Kim with the goal of allowing you all to get to know her better. Kim is an incredibly engaged designer here at The Lilypad. She's often one of the first to respond to Pollys' questions or :helpy requests. Kim is such an asset to TLP and super friendly!

So, without further ado... introducing Kim Jensen.

Where do you call home?
I grew up in Illinois but have lived in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas since 1990, and in my current home for the last 27 of those years.

Who makes up your family?
I’ve been married to my husband, Mark, for 30 years. We have two kids – Matthew, 23, and Kaylee, 19. Both of them still live at home. :-)

Which came first, scrapbooking or designing?
I started “scrapbooking” in 2001 by creating fun webpages to share photos of my kids. I found digital scrapbooking in 2003 and was immediately hooked! In 2005 I joined the creative team of a community site, and one part of that was designing kits that we shared with the members. I’d been creating bits and pieces for my own pages all along, but that felt like the “official” start of my designing. About a year later I was invited to sell my designs at that site’s sister store.

How long have you been at The Lilypad?
It snuck up on me, but I have actually been at The Lilypad for 10 years this month! When it was decided that the store where I’d been was going to be sold, it felt like the right time to look for a new home. Laura was familiar with my work from my collabs with Kate Hadfield, and offered me a guest spot for February 2012. The guest spot turned into a permanent position, and the rest is history. :-)

Do you think you have a signature style?
It’s hard for me to define my style. I am drawn to geometric patterns and vibrant colors. I like lots of texture but have become less “grungy” over time. I really love handmade elements but don’t include as many as I’d like due to the extra time involved in creating those. I start a new kit or collection with the papers to get things rolling, and then work back and forth between those and elements as motifs emerge. Alphas are usually last, and I find doing those the most Zenlike.

What is your favorite product/kit/item you've designed?
Eek, the dreaded “favorite” question! LOL All of my products are like my children, but of my recent kits, I am especially proud of my Putting Down Roots collection.
My Debossed Date Tags are an idea that I had percolating in the back of my mind for a very long time, and I thought it was really fun how they turned out.

What occupies your other time?
I started working part-time at a coffee shop this past fall... even though I don’t drink coffee. LOL My coworkers and the customers are great, and it’s a lot of fun most days. :) Other than that, it’s mostly just trying to keep up with housework (and failing LOL). My downtime is usually spent just relaxing, watching TV, or playing on my phone.

Have you been told that you look like someone famous?
When I was in college, I got Debbie Gibson (pop singer) a lot. She has aged a lot more fabulously than I have though. :lol

Pizza and a pitcher -or- fancy 5-star dining?
Definitely pizza. There is nothing fancy about me. :P

Tell me 4 adjectives that those closest to you would use to describe you.
I actually asked people this as an exercise in a course I did last year. The most common responses were creative, kind, patient, and smart.

What is your favorite movie of all time?
Pitch Perfect. The music and the story suck me in every time, and I love Anna Kendrick.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I’ve never been out of North America, so there are loads of places I’d love to see. Italy is at the top of my list.

What's your favorite TV show?
I have several favorites. I’m anxiously awaiting the next seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Outlander. Friends and Big Bang Theory are my “comfort food” shows. I’ve seen all of the episodes many times and will put them on in the background when I just want something familiar.

Kim has a sale today in honor of her feature. No code required!

Happy ten year anniversary Kim! I love the picture of you and that I learned even more about you from your interview!

Thanks for all these awesome layouts!!

10 years is a huge accomplishment in this business. Congratulations Kim!

Happy 10 th .
So funny your post made me think . And when I came to the pad 9 years ago yours was one of the very first kits I bought ... Here is a page made with them, and a kit from Karah Fredrics . I still have both kits used in this, and use them !

I love the date tags and Putting Down Roots too, but the items I use the most are Pieces of You Words and Watercolor Autumn. I was also excited to see Make The World Dance Alpha because it has so many musical notes in it. I must have all the musical themed kits. :D I also love your stitched designs and alphas and the colors of Fantabulous Fall. I've used the flowers in Blooming Crumpled a lot too, and I think DinoRiffic is so cute, and By The Numbers is a clever fun idea! :love

Congrats on 10 years! I love your debossed date tags and use them a lot (although not on this layout). I love your bright and clear coordinating colors in each of your kits makes it fun to put together a fun layout.
