Lists | pad patter 11.27.17

I am most definitely a list maker! I have them everywhere! I have tried on many occasions to do it digitally, but it just doesn't work for me. Maybe one day I will find something that does, but until then I'll just have paper everywhere! I do like crossing things off :)

Post-it notes are my friend... I do most things digitally but I still use post-it notes a lot. Often I even post them on my laptop screen to remind me to do XYZ the next time I turn the laptop on.

I do the same!! And I have them all around my monitor at work haha

I keep a paper grocery list and when we are about to go shopping I make a list of the stores we need to visit. With living in a small country town I cannot miss not going to a shop in one of our close larger towns, that is needed to be visited.

I'm a super visual learner/thinker so the thing is if I write it down with pen & paper, I will probably remember it when I get to the store. It's not the same when I type/text. I keep a mini notepad in my purse expressly for grocery lists. I take it out just before I leave, write everything down, and put it back in.

I do other lists, too, in my (paper) planner.

What kind of magical town do you live in where there's a store that gives away something for FREE? And not just "something," but a useful item, like a to-do list pad?!

Yep, I love Speedi Pack and Print! They have been handing out the free list pads for as long as I can remember. I used to do a ton of laminating when the kids were young, so I had loads of them, but I haven't been in the store for a couple of years. Sometimes they even had a magnet on the back so they could hang on the fridge. My DD 17 was with me when we went in to ship something and when I grabbed the pad she said that she remembered those pads from her childhood and how she loved using them too.

That's so fun! And I love that your DD remembers them!

Magnet-backed pads are the best. We keep one on the fridge for our grocery list. It's nice having it right where we need it!

I use a planner for most of my lists. My to-do lists. I'll jot things that happen on a day so I can refer back to it.
My grocery list comes from the website I use to plan my meals. I can print it or use it on the website, so I don't duplicate that one.
Other lists end up in Keep by Google. I like that I can access it on the computer or my phone. Usually, I use that for more permanent lists. Like my packing to visit parents list. I cross it off, and then reset it for the trip home. And then reset it for next time. I also jot notes about stories I want to tell in there. Especially things my kid says, or funny moments I know I won't remember. I like that I can tag those, and they don't disappear as the days change.

Oh all the lists! I keep a TLP challenge list next to my desk to work thru each month, i dont always get them all crossed off but that and Disney pages still to do for my albums are my main scrap related lists. And all my menu, to-do, shopping etc lists are old school paper in various notebooks around the house as well - and i'm one of those that sticks post-it notes to her phone or screen - so very un-digi of me, i know but whatever gets it out of my head!

I was sitting here trying to decide what to talk about and when I looked down and saw my list, it hit me. Let's talk LISTS! Are you a list maker? I am! I have to make lists to keep myself organized. If I don't, I'll forget something.

I have a pad by my computer that lists all the things I need to do when I'm on the computer. I have a grocery list and gift idea list in notes on my phone so I won't forgot something when I'm at the store. I used to make those lists on paper, but then I kept forgetting them at home. I keep a pen and paper pad by my bed so I can jot down thoughts that come to me when I'm trying to go to sleep so I won't forget them and I can actually go to sleep. If I didn't, I'd lie awake trying to remember what I was supposed to remember to add to my list... hehe!

The best part about making lists for me is crossing things off! I'll admit that I've even added something to my list after I've completed it, just so I could cross it off. There's just something so satisfying about crossing things off the list that keeps me motivated to keep going so I can cross more things off. I prefer paper lists to get that feeling of accomplishment. There's nothing better than seeing a whole list of things crossed off!

The other day when I was at the print shop/shipping store they had some to-do list pads there for free. I grabbed one and have been filling it up and crossing things off like crazy. I'm feeling rather accomplished and love that I'm getting so much done. I know it sounds silly but it really is the little things that make life good. And if crossing things of my list, is doing it for me, then that's what I'm gonna do... hehe!

How about you? Are you a list maker? Do you prefer paper or electronic lists? Do you love crossing things off your list?
I am a list person too.. we have a pre printed grocery list and when we run out I just check it off to get it when I go to the grocery. We use this too as we make up the menu plan for the week for grocery as well. when I do the houe work I have my list and cross off as I go. As i get older I need more and more lists!

Sort of? I occasionally make a list and leave it on my desk so that my boss can see what's outlined for the next day or so... and I don't have to hear questions.

Then, there are post it notes. Sometimes 1 or 2, and sometimes a bunch. I will write an item or two and then put them where they need to be to remind me. Right now, I mainly use my mind for my list. I picture a post it note with the items listed. As I get older, pry more post it notes, or ones with lines and more space! :giggle

Yes! I pretty much could have written your post myself Kayla! :giggle I absolutely have been known to add things to my list just so I can cross it off too! Lol! And my grocery list has to be on paper so I can cross things off as I go. The only hazard is forgetting my list at work or at home, and then having to hear about it from my hubby when I call to tell him to send me a picture of it. :giggle

Yes I do the same. I make lists every day pretty much and if I don't finish something one day, then it goes on the next day's new list.

I just wanted ya'll to know ... I'm doing an amazing job of ignoring my list today. I gotta sort through all my Christmas deco and get the boxes stashed before dinner tonight.

And yes, I could put that on my list. :-)

I love making lists! I usually have my lists in my phone because that's what's always at hand. But groceries get written down and I keep a small notebook by the computer for photos that need scrapping, page layout ideas and challenges that I want to work on. If I do happen to write a list on paper, I take a photo with my phone in case I forget the written list (happens all the time with the grocery shopping - but the photo helps and if there was a last minute addition I can usually remember what that is).
I use an Amazon list to remember which books my son still wants (such an avid reader, I can hardly keep up). There's also a partial gift idea list - I'll add items even if I know I won't be buying it through Amazon.
And Pinterest counts too! I keep a small secret board of only 10 things I want to make, create, cook, etc. When I complete the project, I repin it to a "Completed Projects" board - satisfying that need to cross something off a virtual to do list!

Good idea on the using secret pinterest boards as a list!
