Today is National Lego Day. I love legos! There's something relaxing about building the sets. It might be because my brothers and I would build epic lego stories as kids. My kid loves lego, and tells everyone that's what he wants, so he's collected a ton of sets. Plus, I've found a few deals on yard sale sites. My brother bought his wife the Friends set last year for Christmas. My husband bought us the old school Nintendo set with the tv. So, no shame here in buying cool sets for yourself or loved ones!

So, what about you? Do you lego in your family? Have you bought yourself a set?

I don't personally own any, but I've bought a ton of them for my grandson and I've stepped on a LOT of them!!! OUCH! He doesn't play with Legos anymore, but his favorite things were those 12x12 "blocks" that he could build his Legos on. I got him green ones (grass) and beige ones (sand). He loved those things!

we have a huge amount of lego. All three children have their own collections, and my son loves and breathes lego. He's into lego robotics now. For my girls lego is a creative way of playing dolls houses and toy villages etc- they create their own little world to play in, and next time create a different little world.

We had Legos until about a year and a half ago. We kept them in one of those little plastic towers of drawers. My children were never more than moderately interested. My husband was the most enthusiastic builder. Finally we gave them to a friend who we knew loves Legos.

My husband is a massive AFOL (Adult fan of Lego). I often say we have enough Lego in our home to build a bigger house - wish I was joking :giggle There are worse things he could be addicted to though. And I do have a few sets of my own like the Disney Castle and Disney Train Station.

We also have Duplo now for the twins. So our house is full of the stuff.

We have a big plastic box full of lego, and I LOVE legos, except when I accidentally step on them, lol

My kids have always been obsessed with legos. One year for Christmas they got so many we had a lego factory on our dining room table (I bet they each got 10 sets). It was nice because I had the week after Christmas off so I sat at the table and scrapped while they built. I bet this was about 6 or 7 years ago. Now only my daughter is still building. We haven't gotten rid of anything though, so we have about 4 big bins of them and she has an entire table in her room set up of the ones she still "plays" with. I try to pack them back into ziploc baggies when done with instructions, but usually I can't find the instructions any more. :(

I have bought some friends for myself too, still in their boxes. I tell myself it's for the grandkids one day.
I bought duplo when my kids were small and they still get pulled out when we have visitors with littlies.
I agree with the whole, stepped on way too many of them through the years.
Love the stuff and will likely buy even more.

My 10 year old still plays with his duplo sometimes. I keep trying to get rid of it, but nope. He likes to combine the duplo with the lego now

There are websites devoted to the instructions. You can print almost all of them off as pdf. Lego themselves has a lot of the instructions for sets still on their site.

Yes, you know Daniel was totally enamored with LEGO. He still has some of his favorite pieces on display. He's moved onto other things, like playing video games with his friends, but he will still pull out his boxes of LEGO and build occasionally. Jay says when we are empty nesters, that I will have my craft room and he will have a LEGO room with all the sets built and displayed.

LEGO family here. I thought the kids would outgrow them, but at 11, 14, and 17, that hasn't happened yet.

I had a set when I was 5 or 6, but lost the instructions almost immediately; I remembered my uncle helping me assemble it and that I was never able to do it again. I had those pieces forever, though, and my kids as used to play with what was left of it when they visited my parents.

I've thought about getting a set to play with -- The Big Bang Theory set! -- but watching my kids with their instruction books puts me off. LOL I'd rather just watch them do it. My husband doesn't seem to have any interest in LEGOs beyond encouraging the kids to play with them.

haha. not sure if this is good or bad and if I should tell my daughter or not. haha *now you'd have to know what they are I would assume? if they're broken down in a bag - it's a crap shoot. hahahah

We don't have Lego's, but I do follow the National Park Service Lego Vignettes on Facebook or @legoparkranger on Instagram. You should take a look at it - they're so fun!

Just received my "valentine's Day" Lego flowers in the mail! I can't wait to put them together! I collect/display the modular city buildings. I just started collecting the winter/gingerbread houses for Christmas. I have some older Duplos that now my younger grandkids play with on a converted coffee table (took the glass out and replaced it with building plates) great size for littles! I even went to Denmark and brought home their chess set as a souvenir. As you can see, I love them!

I use to build with LEGO when prepping for SATs or finals as a teen. I passed down my collection to the boys a few years ago. I wholeheartedly thank LEGO this year. My boys got a lot of LEGO Mario sets for Christmas. But my younger son lost Mario! It's all interactive, so they couldn't play without him. I wrote to LEGO, asking to buy just the figure, since the whole set is $57. They understood & sent us a new Mario, free of charge. Just wonderful!

So, we had a neighbor boy who gave my son a big tub of legos all mixed together. They were mostly Star Wars sets. And we spent time sorting them to build some of the ships. It wasn't as bad as I thought. My kid was 6, so I had him sort by color and size - all the 1x2's, all the 2x4's etc. Then it was pretty easy to bag into kits.

Or: have you seen rebrickable? Put in the sets you own, and it will give you a whole bunch of new things, and some other sets, that you can build! It's really cool.

Did you know they will also send replacement parts for broken pieces? Like my son had a piece that cracked when he was playing with it, they sent us a new one for free!

Your post was actually the inspiration for this one when I saw it was Lego Day!
